ANNOUNCEMENTS:
On June 15th some AW Rotarians attended the Young Professionals Networking event put on by the Chamber of Commerce. We co-sponsored the event along with the Allentown RC.
June 20th, Monday evening, was the annual Camp Neidig BBQ and closing ceremony.
TOMORROW June 23rd is the next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting at the Holiday Inn. It will be a fellowship hour, and all are urged to bring some guests.
June 24th Friday is Dining Out at 29 Cooks in Emmaus; price is $25 per person, and we will be treated to a BBQ Blowout menu. BYOB.
June 29th Wednesday at our regular meeting we will conduct our annual Changeover. Let’s all attend to welcome Dan Crane as our next President. Bring family and friends. WE WILL START AT 7:15 A.M. !!!
July 28th -- THURSDAY -- In place of our Happy Hour meeting will be our full club monthly Dining Out at Italiano Delite in Macungie.
Next week the scheduled Greeter is Chuck Ehninger and the program will be our annual changeover ceremony making Dan Crane our next President.

SPE4CIAL AWARD:
Sue Weber presented Michaela with a gift for her to remember her time with us. Miska leaves for the west coast tomorrow. She attended the Camp Neidig event Monday evening.
Miska thanked us all and said she had a great time here with us. She hopes to come back next Summer.
LUCK of the DRAW:
Today’s door prize donated by Dan Crane was won by Dan Crane -- again -- and he graciously declined and a second ticket drawn was Ralph Witcher’s. Then Geoff Legg won the right to draw a marble for the $46 50:50 pot and did not win.
FINES:
S-a-A Don Davis fined Mitch Huston for no pin. And Don returned Dan’s remote control in exchange for a $5 contribution.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Jean Masiko presented the club with a very special chain of “thank yous” from the children of the Parkland School; District who have been receiving our snack packs. Very nice.
Marlene Ritter is just happy to be here. It seems that she missed last week’s meeting because of a fender-bender on the way here.
Sue Weber is happy that she, Bill, Miska and Mike Gschwendtner attended the BBQ and closing ceremony at Camp Neidig along with two Parkland Campers we sent too. This is a great program and 150 students were there. Some will be a program for our club meeting soon.
Dale Hostetter put in $5 because last Wednesday when he took the deposit to the bank he apparently just missed the Robbery by a minute.
Wendy Weaver put in $5 in celebration of her son and daughter-in-law’s decision to quit their jobs, sell their house and some belongings and proceed to hike the entire length of the Appalachian Trail.
Mitch Huston is pleased that this Saturday the City of Bethlehem is celebrating its 275th anniversary by holding a Community Celebration taking place outside of the ArtsQuest Center on the SteelStacks campus. Mitch’s Dad wrote a March for the occasion and the American Legion Band will perform it.
Ralph Witcher is happy that daughter Rachel has completed the first 5 weeks of basic training for the Air Force.
ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK:
The AW Rotarian of the week is Ralph Witcher, Ordinarily Dan would explain Ralph’s beginnings in Rotary, but in spite of Dan’s efforts, Ralph was among the missing and not doing e-mails. So Dan introduced Ralph to tell his story.
PROGRAM:
Ralph Witcher’s Classification Talk began with him explaining that he had been in Montreal for the last 3 weeks working. He said that the Masikos brought him into Rotary.
Ralph then thanked Jeanne Shipe for her guidance in preparing for this event. Then he accepted her offer to hold his hand if he needed it. So Jeanne joined Ralph and holding hands he led the crowd in a musical background while he sand the melody and he and Jeanne danced a bit -- a very unique start of a Rotary talk.
This opening called for us to participate, collaborate and cooperate. Ralph talked about his life’s attitudes leading up to Rotary. He noted that “people care not about what you know, but rather how much you care.” He joined Rotary looking for ways to express gratitude for all that he has, and to share it with others.

At Kean Ralph ‘s first 3 years were toward pre-med. Then he was redirected into a job sealing computers and his career was launched. Then he adds that we always should try to hang around with folks who are smarter than we are.
Ralph said that on Nov. 17, 1983 at a Fraternity swimming party he met a girl and a few hours later told her he loved her. They have been together for 33 years and just celebrated 20 years of marriage. They have 2 girls and 2 boys.
Ralph looks forward to working with Rotarians and getting to know us.
CLOSING:
Halyna Stegura hit the right note to start us singing a nice rendition of “God Bless America” Then we recited the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
