Our meeting this morning was held on the main campus of LCCC in Schnecksville, as part of our Vocational Service work. Jeanne Shipe was our Greeter.
President Herb Klotz rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. Rev. Jeff Kistler gave a very nice invocation with special mention of Kathy Dunn who broke her leg.
GUESTS: Cal Sarasan, Amazon.com; Dr. Ann Bieber, President of LCCC; Pam Haas, guest of Dan Crane; and 11 students, their families, and school administrators from LCCC, LCTI, Parkland HS and Northwestern Lehigh HS.
WELCOME:
Dr. Ann Bieber welcomed all and thanked the AW Rotarians for their scholarship program and their continued good works. She said that LCCC is celebrating its 50th year.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Last Wednesday was snack packing at NWL HS with 15 volunteers helping.
Friday May 13th we volunteered at the Kingdom Life Food Center.
Saturday May 14th five AW Rotarians attended the annual District 7430 Training Assembly at DeSales University.
Sunday May 15th was a terrific Tempting Tastes 2 fundraising event at the Holiday Inn. Herb showed pictures. Herb thanks all who made this happen, especially the lead team of Gwenn Carr and Gary Englehardt.
Tuesday May 17th was the Million Dollar Journey Dinner in King of Prussia. RI President “Ravi” was the keynote speaker. NINE AW Rotarians and family attended this historic event.
TODAY May 18th is snack packing at Parkland HS.
May 18 and 19 is volunteering at the Lowhill Food Pantry
May 22nd SUNDAY, is the Rodale Park work party, probably mulching. See Dan Crane.
Next Wed. May 25th is snack packing at NWL HS.
May 26th is the next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting at the Holiday Inn. Join us and bring family and other friends.
Our Wed. June 1st regular a.m. meeting will be held at Northwestern Middle school with the Interact students there. Jen and Pete who traveled to Sierra Leone in March will speak to us.
June 5th , Sunday at 1:45 P.M. we can use more volunteers at the Miracle League baseball game. Try it; you will feel gooood.
June 20th, Monday evening, is the annual Camp Neidig BBQ and closing ceremony. It always is great.
June 24th Friday is Dining Out at 29 Cooks in Emmaus; price is $25 per person.
Next week back at Luther Crest our scheduled Greeter is Michaela Luzicova and the program will be a Classification Talk by Ginny Sandoval.

PROGRAM:
Our program today was our annual Scholarship Awards to students of the Northwestern and Parkland H.S.s, LCTI and LCCC. As they did last year, Amazon.com donated a new Kindle to each winner. President Herb handed a $1,000 check to each winner.
Barb Kistler introduced Linda Kasza and Larissa Schneck winners from LCCC, and Transfer Counselor, Ginny Mihalik, and Vice-President for Academic Services and Student Development, Dr. Tom Meyers. Some winners introduced their family members present, and most expressed their thanks to AW Rotarians.
Then the 3 LCTI winners, Emma Conrey, Raven Miller and Hayley Werkheiser were invited to come forward along with Dr. Tim Rushton, Executive Director of LCTI and an AW Rotarian.
Hope Pearson introduced the 3 winners from Parkland HS and then the 3 from Northwestern HS. Mary Ann Wright and Tim Rushton said nice things about the winners, all of whom are extremely accomplished, and thanked AW Rotarians.
Barbara noted that the AW selection committee had a difficult task in determining winners from a fine selection of worthy applicants. She thanked Dale Utt committee Chair and its members.
CLOSING:
Barbara Kistler hit the right note to start us on a nice rendition of “God Bless America” Then we recited the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
