Today’s regular morning meeting took place in the Library of Parkland High School as a joint meeting with the Parkland Interact Club. And breakfast was available.
Our Greeter today was Bob Nagle and he did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane opened the meeting at 7:30 a.m. Then Rev. Jeff Kistler gave a very nice invocation.
Then the assembled voices without music sang a good rendition of our National Anthem. And we said the pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says the word from the country is “Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.” Said Og Mandino.

STUDENT of the MONTH:
Madison Holub was awarded the AWRC Student of the Month for March by Rev. Jeff Kistler. See separate article.
President Dan showed many slides of photographs from our 3-8 meeting and activities. These included Marti and Wendy Weaver, Ihor trying to recruit Dr. Jack Nuschke, and Jeanne Shipe presenting Hawaiian and Aussie RC banners, Then we saw pics of the Women’s Day Dinner, our 3-16 Mixer at Eight Oaks, and the March 11th District Foundation Gala.
TEMPTING TASTES 3:
Gwenn Carr says: We have 16 Food Partners scheduled for the event. We have fabulous gifts included in our Live Auction including Getaways, a propane grill and a chance to have the Blue Mountain Winery deck for an afternoon.

March 23 THURSDAY evening meeting at the Holiday Inn will be an Easter egg stuffing party. Come help us with this project.
May 6 Farm Fest at Ontelaunee Park. We need some volunteers to work a booth that day. Hours are from 10:30-6:30. If you can work a morning or afternoon shift please contact Ginny.
March DINING OUT will be at 6:00 P.M. on March 24th at Carmel Kitchen in Allentown.
March 28th is the Charter Event for the Whitehall Area Club. The cost will be $25. There are currently 19 people signed up as new members. Location is Fellowship Community in Whitehall. No alcohol is available.
Let’s have a great turnout in support of our new “Sister” RC that we sponsor.
Jean Masiko needs volunteers for the March 29th Snack Packing at Parkland.
A Rotary Leadership Institute meeting is scheduled for April 1st in Media. These are very worthwhile training courses all about Rotary.
April 8th Dennis Houser is leading a work detail in Ontelaunee Park.
April 29th is the Parkland Community Resource day and Ray Stock needs volunteers to staff the info table.
The annual Engineers Without Borders fundraiser is on April 30th.
Dennis Houser on May 20th will lead a work group at the Rodale Velodrome.
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation.
ANOTHER OFFSITE MEETING:
Our regular Wednesday morning meeting on April 19th will be held at the Northwestern SD. Details will follow.

PROGRAM:
Catherine Aldrich, a Teacher at Parkland HS is the Advisor to the Interact Club. She welcomed the Rotarians and students to our joint meeting, and noted that this is the 4th year for the club. She introduced each of the officers of the Interact Club, and had the other members stand as well.
Catherine said that the Interactors raised funds for a ShelterBox last year and intend to do one this year. They may work with the Spanish club to make it happen sooner. The club also worked with Toys for Tots and did gifts for Foster children.
The Interact students attended a regular AW Rotary breakfast meeting, and they participated in the Game Night in Trexlertown. One student told the group how great it was for him to volunteer at Tempting Tastes 2 last year. (We have 10 sponsored students for TT3.)
And it seems that they are planning a Pie-in-the-Face event to help a fellow student. They expect to get Supt. Sniscak to be there and participate.
The PHS Interact Club President Habib described the importance of volunteering that keeps the club going. He mentioned the snack packing work that they do each month. Also there was a Pink Lemonade sale in October. He also noted their volunteering at the 5K Purple Pinkie Run last October. And they do something called “Minute to Win It.”
Interact Club member, Emma Turke explained how she joined the club as a skeptic and in a few weeks began to understand what serving others really means. She got past her shyness and is grateful for the experience.
Conner Baker is the club’s Historian. As such with the help of others he put together an 8 minute slide show with a musical background for us. AW Rotarian Ralph Witcher pitched in to make the system work properly. It was a good show with laughs and applause.
