Our Greeter today was Ihor Fedoriw and he looked very dapper and did a wonderful job. President Dan rang the bell at 7:30 and we switched things up a bit today and started our meeting by singing the National Anthem along with the Gaither Boys video and then reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Ernie Boll then delivered a wonderful invocation. Chris Blechschmidt won the door prize today and Ihor’s ticket was called for the 50-50 but he did not pull the elusive black marble.

Arch Klumpf joined us today thanks to the great work of EBC Printing who was given the task of making a life sized Arch cutout. They did a great job and President Dan and DG Linda posed for a picture. Arch was made in such a way that he can also “sit” at the table for breakfast………for the low, low price of $26.50 per breakfast!!

Sue Weber let everyone know that the Picnic scheduled for Sunday, 8/14 may have to be postponed due to a 90% chance of rain for that day. Sue will send an email on Friday when they make the final call depending on the forecast. Don’t forget to check your email on Friday for that announcement.
We could still use 1 volunteer for each of the Lowhill Food Pantry days, Wednesday, 8/17 from 10:00-11:30 AM and Thursday, 8/18 from 3:30-6:00 PM. Please contact Gloria Zimmerman if you are able to help.
Gloria reports that she received a check for $1,500 for Snack Pack from Insulation Corporation of America, located at 2571 Mitchell Avenue in Allentown. Joel Masiko’s daughter-in-law and her sister own the company.
We were honored to have our District Governor Linda R. Young visit our club.
In addition to thePresidential Citation, DG Linda would like to recognize those clubs in our district that have achieved the criteria of The “Shining Star” District Governor Award for achievements in 2016-17.
To achieve this award your club must achieve 1 or both of the Mandatory Activities in Section 1 and any 6 or 7 from Section 2, (a total of 8 successfully achieved activities) by May 1, 2017.
Section 1 (One of these is mandatory)
- Have a net gain of + 1 minimum in membership from July 1 reported to RI by April 30th 2017.

- Every Club Member will Support our Rotary Foundation with a contribution in their own name of at least $26.50 in our Rotary Foundation Centennial Year.
Section 2
- Support our Foundation by attaining a minimum contribution of$100 per capita.
- Meet both Club Foundation and Polio Goals for the year as entered in Club Central.
- Participate in a club or multi-club Membership Promotion Event.
- Update at least 10 goals in Rotary Club Central Including 2 in the Service Section.
- Review and Update your club Constitution and Bylaws.
- Applied, received, and completed a District Grant project in 2016-2017.
- Participate as a sponsor in the Polio Purple Pinkie 5 km Fundraiser in October.
- Conduct a 4 Way Test Speech Contest.
- Sponsor or co-sponsor 1 youth exchange Student either inbound or outbound.
- Sponsor 2 students to attend Camp Neidig in 2017.
- Involve Local Media in at least one club event, project, or Fundraiser and submit a copy of the article with this document.
- Invite & Involve at least 6 members of either a Rotaract or Interact Club to be a part of your club community service project or fundraiser
