Friday to Sunday April 8 to 10 is the annual District Conference at Pocono Manor Inn. There is a Cow Pie Bingo game underway now.
April 23rd is the Community Resources Fair at Jordan Lutheran Church and we plan to have a Rotary info table. We need volunteers for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Gloria.

May 15 is Tempting Tastes 2 -- Gwenn Carr had some auction items shown around. And she said that Wert’s Café will serve meat loaf samples among other things.

May 18th our meeting is at LCCC with our annual scholarship awards.
Dan asks that we really plan ahead and consider attending the 2017 RI Convention to be held in Atlanta, GA.

The door prize donated by Ginny Sandoval was won by Bill Weber. Then our guest Josh Heffner’s ticket was drawn and he pulled out a white marble and did not win the $85 in the 50:50 pot.

Bill Weber is happy to be back. And he compliments Sue’s driving skills that limited the damage to their car when a Penske truck sideswiped them in Florida.
Sue Weber is happy for the Sierra Leone team. And she announced that we need 3 families in the Northwestern School District to volunteer to host a Youth Exchange student starting August this year.
Sue also welcomed our guest Ali Rizva whom they know from automobile servicing.
PDG Gary Fedorcha is happy to be with us, and to support and harass his friend and our speaker,Tim Rushton.
Dale Utt admits to having an 80th birthday and we sang Happy Birthday to him. He presented Dan Crane a banner for the club from the huge Madison, Wisconsin RC where he attended and gave our banner. That RC has over 400 members at a meeting and it is quite expensive. They do good things through check writing, but miss out on having projects and camaraderie.
Halyna Stegura asks us to pray for her daughter to have a safe trip home tomorrow from The Gambia. The flight goes through Brussels.
Ralph Wasiakowski is happy to announce that his love for his wife still is increasing.
SHELTERBOX SUGGESTION:

PROGRAM:
Dan introduced Dr. Thomas "Tim" Rushton to give his Classification Talk. Tim is the Executive Director of the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute (LCTI). He first thanked Gary Fedorcha for being here today.
It seems that Tim is the fourth generation to be named Thomas. So with his Grandmother’s influence he became a “Tim” so the family could communicate. And to those who wonder about his military training, he has no such experience.
Tim was raised in Luzerne county and was graduated from Wilkes-Barre High School. He attended the University of Scranton and added a graduate degree. Eight years later he earned his Doctorate in Education at Temple University.
Tim is 52 years old and has been married for 28 years. He still is hot for his wife too. She is a VP of Human Resources. They have a 23 year old daughter and a son who is a sophomore at Penn State.
After college Tim went to work for a pharmaceutical company for 8 years and learned management and leadership skills. Then he changed directions to education. They went to West Palm Beach, FL and he started a business. But they came back to PA for family, although Tim is not a great fan of Winter.
Tim became “Mr. Mom” for two years while he taught school after getting his teaching certificate. He found out that you can’t run a school like a business, and that working with kids is challenging. He taught Biology and Chemistry for 8 years.
At LCTO Tim is dealing with “Current Technology.” They provide a viable option to kids instead of going to a 4 year college and ending up in debt and unemployed. Tim said nice things about Gary Fedorcha, and about Bob Nagle. Bob was leading LCTI for its first ten years.
LCTI is the largest of its kind in PA, and third in the U.S. A typical tour of the facilities takes about 4-1/2 hours. It covers 500,000 square feet. And we will get to see it at our Wed. April 13th meeting there.
Tim likes motorcycling and is a great cook,
CLOSING:
Halyna and Ralph hit the right note to start us on a nice rendition of “God Bless America.” Then we recited the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
