PROGRAM:
Our program today was Prabha Sinha, Pratyush Sinha Foundation, a Tax-Exempt Non-Profit organization. The subject was Yoga & Mindfulness Education in Schools/Transformative Learning. Prabha Sinha - Founder and President - worked for 25 years in the Printing and Publishing industry.
In 2005, she was drawn to yoga. Her practice led her to become a certified Yoga Teacher in 2007. Her first certification was in Classical Yoga in India and then Vinyasa Flow Yoga in Charlotte, NC. She has been teaching adult classes since September 2008.
Realizing the benefits of Yoga and Meditation in her own life, she was led towards sharing these benefits with the community, especially children. With that aim, she started the Pratyush Sinha Foundation in October 2012.
Prabha continues to teach Yoga and Mindfulness to adults and children, while working on making this education accessible to every member of our community. Their website says “Assisting our local communities in achieving health and harmony through yoga and mindfulness programs.”
There now are 10 qualified Teachers that teach these programs, including after school Yoga.. They do the community outreach and discuss the benefits of Yoga. This is in the Allentown school district. Their goal is to make every child capable of being a healthy and happy citizen of the world.
It seems that we each have about 50,000 thoughts most every day. And the negative ones are likely to stick, while the positive thoughts quickly fade. Prabba had our members relax and clear their minds for a few minutes as a demonstration. She also distributed some brochures.
CLOSING:
We recited the saying “They profit most who serve the best.”
