President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. Then Rev. Jeff Kistler gave the invocation.
Today we sang the National Anthem as we watched a newer video. Then we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says that the word from the country is from Winston Churchill who said “Continuous effort -- not strength or intelligence — is the key to unlocking our potential.”
Shirley Randall was with us today.

NEXT WEEK our Greeter will be Dorothy Bloom, and our program will be our Quarterly Club Assembly. There will be a vote to approve adopting the proposed updated AWRC Constitution and also the Bylaws.
LUCK of the DRAW:
Today ‘s door prize bottle of wine donated by Randy Beitler was won by Gwenn Carr.
Then Dan Crane’s ticket was drawn and he selected a white marble from among 4 and did not win the $130 in the 50:50 pot.
FINES:
S-a-A Don Davis fined Mustafa Jaffer for no pin. He also collected from Halyna, Wendy and Ray for their pictures being in the Press.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Ray Stock happily presented the club with a check for $2,000 toward the Snack Pack program donated by the Pickett Foundation.
Bill Palmer is happy that his Grandson Nathaniel has been accepted to attend Duke University Law School.
Al Lewis paid $2 for not having signed in twice. Then, as a trained Boy Scout, he thanked Bob Gordon for putting together his food tray this morning.
Mitch a.k.a. “Henny” Huston told a very funny story this morning.
Both Gwenn Carr and Ernie Boll celebrate birthdays in January and we sang “Happy Birthday” to each of them.
PROGRAM:
Today’s program was an update on our Tempting Tastes 3 Fundraiser by Gwenn Carr , Gary Englehardt and the TT3 Team. Gary said “We are off to a good start.” He began with a list of the four major sections of work ---- Restaurants, Sponsors, Auction Items and Ticket Sales.
Ginny Sandoval has signed up 15 restaurants so far, which is great. There will be a table with Thai, Greek and Indian foods to sample.
Joe Goll said that we are looking for sponsors and letters to previous year’s supporters will go out very soon.
The Website is temptingtastes.net and it is up and running including the purchase of tickets. We prefer that folks pay by checks which go to Treasurer Dale Hostetter to save the 3% credit card fees.
Gwenn noted that the Auction is in 4 parts, Live, Silent, Raffle and Basket of Cheer. In the past it has produced 1/3 of the income. She has since e-mailed us a link to the AW Foundation’s 501 ( C) 3 certificate.
We are already collecting items, including art and jewelry that Amir Famili brought back from China. And we have a donation of a week in St. Martin in the Caribbean. Gwenn walked around showing some of the artwork. Then we asked each table meet and come up with some ideas for “upscale” items we might seek. Gary took notes.
In conclusion:
Please get Auction items, including gift certificates.
Please volunteer for the event
Please donate items for the Basket of Cheer.
