Jerry Frank was a very enthusiastic Greeter today!! President Dan rang the bell….a little bit late and got fined for it. He called the meeting to order and announced that Arch Klumph was eating breakfast with him today and that you too can eat breakfast with Arch for only $26.50. Today’s Word from the Country is: Honesty is the first chapter of the book of wisdom (Thomas Jefferson) We sang the Star Spangled Banner along with the Cactus Cuties and recited the Pledge of Allegiance after which Jean Masiko delivered a very nice Invocation.
Halyna guessed this week’s picture was a rose and won a pin which she then auctioned off to David Caccese for $2.00.
Joe Goll introduced Burt Duren, President Elect from the Emmaus Club and also Ginny Sandoval’s friend, Rachael Tomkins.
Herb sent a selfie from The Trail, whiskers and all!! And we shared a few pictures from the Weber’s picnic along with one from a 2008 service project, planting roses at Ontelaunee.
Bob Nagle talked about how to donate to the dictionary project which services Salisbury, Northwestern and Parkland School Districts. It cost $50 per classroom but we will take donations of any size. Bob also recommends participating in the giving of the dictionaries.
Chuck Ehninger then talked about the renaming of the Professional of the Year to the Rotary Service Award and shared with everyone the criteria for nominations. He would like to have nominations in by the end of September. He also advised that the winner of the award will receive a certificate and the club will give $250 to the charity of their choice. The award and charity would be presented in November and would include the Nominee and family members as well as a representative of the Charity receiving the donation. The Charity representative would then give a 3-5 minute talk.
David Caccese talked about contributions to the Rotary Foundation and there are three ways to do this. The club will match your donation, up to $200, if you make a check out to AW Rotary and give it to Dale. David will complete the paperwork. The second option is to make the check out to the Rotary Foundation and give it to David…..this option is not eligible to be matched by the club. The third option is to go to the Rotary website and click on “give now”….this option is also not eligible to be matched by the club.
Chris Blechschmidt told us about a project that he will be working on called Canstruction. Even though Chris was 12 hours late for the meeting (and paid a fine), he was able to give us information about the project and provided each table with information and pictures from last year. This year’s theme is Lehigh Valley Heritage. The event will be held at the Lehigh Valley Mall on 9/29 and be on display until 10/13. Sculptures will be built from canned goods and will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
Gary Englehardt advised us that the first TT3 meeting will be held on 9/16 at 7:30 AM, place to be determined. Gwenn and Gary will use the guest speaker spot on 10/12, and additional meeting dates are 11/4, 11/18 and 12/2.
The door prize was donated by Greeter, Jerry Frank who drew his own ticket. He drew again and picked Ernie Boll’s ticket. Ernie drew Dale Hostetter’s ticket for the 50-50 (which is up to $58) but he did not pick the elusive black marble.
Bill Weber announced that they will be picking up Marty (Martina), our Argentinian exchange student, on Monday and they hope to have her at next week’s meeting.
Sue Weber thanked everyone who helped out with Sunday’s picnic which was a great success and didn’t get rained on until 7:15.

–Son, Ali Famili, recently received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Lehigh U (looking for Job). Captain of LU soccer team and Parkland High school
–Son, Ali-reza, senior at Bloomsburg University. Majoring in Biology
–Three sisters all living is Iran. Two retired teachers and one is a CPA
