Our Greeter today was Stan Drabick and he did a marvelous job. President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting.
Pastor Jean Masiko gave a very nice invocation including special mention of Dennis Houser and the Henry family.
And the assembled voices sang a good rendition of our National Anthem along with a flag video. And we said the pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says the word from the country is “Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom.” Said George Washington Carver.

Nine AWRC 2017 Scholarship recipients, their families and School Leaders.
President Dan showed many slides of photographs from our last meeting starting with Herb Klotz having breakfast with Arch Klumph, and followed with the colorful socks worn by Gary Englehardt and John Scott. Photos of Dr. Edwards who spoke about Lyme Disease, and Parkland H.S. snack packing followed.
NOTE: A special Mike Henry Rotary Scholarship Fund has been established. Anyone wishing to donate may do so by sending Checks to the Keller Funeral Home made out to the AW Rotary Foundation. Or they can go to Treasurer Chris Blechschmidt. Over $2,000 has been donated so far.

Our next Thursday Evening meeting will be on May 25th as a Happy Hour and Business meeting at the Holiday Inn starting at 5:30 PM. A new member induction is planned.
May 20th is a work group at the Rodale Cycling Center. Please sign up with Dan Crane.
May 20th is the annual District Training Assembly at MONTCO CC in Blue Bell. A number of AW Rotarians will attend.
May 24th our regular a.m. meeting will be a club assembly devoted to learning from TT3.
May 28th, through the generosity of Jerry Frank, there are still 4 seats available for the Iron Pigs evening baseball game. The $70 per ticket funds will be donated to the AWRC foundation. Contact Dan PDQ.
June 7th -- Charter night dinner for the new RC of Upper Perkiomen.
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation.

CENTENNIAL SCHOOL UPDATE:
Herb reports that since a fund was established for donations to support building repairs for the Sierra Leone school. $13,300 has been received. The goal is a needed $22,000.
Also, the Parkland High School seniors have set up a “Go Fund Me” account to raise money to pay the $20 annual fee for each Centennial School student to attend. Over $4,000 have been raised.

Today we hosted Nine students and their families that were selected for each student to receive a $1,000 AWRC Scholarship this year. Committee Chair, Hope Pearson, led the presentations.
Hope began by explaining that this was the best day in Rotary for her each year. And she expressed thanks to the Scholarship Committee members for their hard work and guidance.
Once again our friends at Amazon.com have donated a new Kindle for each winning student. Their representative was with us this morning.
Hope called up each school with its academic leaders and student winners. She introduced the school leaders and then described the hopes and plans for these H.S. seniors. Hope handed each winner a check. Two recipients were unable to be here today.
