! President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. We sang the National Anthem, and said the Pledge of Allegiance. Rev. Jeff Kistler gave a very nice invocation.
President Dan reminded us of the word from the country: “Don’t be afraid to try.”

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dan showed a slide picturing our volunteers that worked at Snack Packing, and then at the Miracle League Halloween Party -- see separate article -- and the Lowhill Food Pantry.
Then there were many photos or District 7430 Rotarians working at and participating in the Saturday Oct. 22nd Purple Pinkie 5K event -- see the October 25th Special Race Edition Bulletin.

Herb Klotz announced another Purple Pinkie winner award that goes to Dana Gschwendtner. He gave her medal to Mike.
SPECIAL on TEE-SHIRTS:
Herb said that there are all sizes of Tee-Shirts available for purchase at $10 each -- which will be donated to the RI PolioPlus fund.
President Dan read to us a congratulatory message from PDG Doug Cook, D7430 Foundation Chair, for the fabulous success of the 5K race last Saturday.
Race Director Herb, with a smile on his face, said that the 5K race net proceeds for Polio Eradication are $16,000. Way to go mad thanks to all the AW volunteers.
President Dan then read to us a lovely Thank You note from a client of the Lowhill Food Pantry for all that Rotarians are doing to make that successful in meeting needs.
We still are taking donations for ShelterBoxes for those who were affected by Hurricane Matthew. Make checks out to AW Club Foundation and give to Dale Hostetter.
NEXT WEEK our Greeter will be Jean Machamer, and our program will be all about the RI Foundation presented by Foundation Chair, David Caccese.

LUCK of the DRAW:
Today’s door prize, a bottle of wine, donated by Brian Peterka, was won by Ron Coleman. Then Dan Crane’s ticket was drawn and he selected the black marble and WON the $87 in the 50:50 pot.
FINES:
S-a-A Don Davis could not fine too many for no pins and badges so he fined Bill Palmer for his birthday on Tuesday. But the group did sing Happy Birthday to Bill.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Jeff Kistler is happy that his niece, Jenny, won a Purple Pinkie medal last Saturday.
Bob Gordon paid a dollar and told a joke about brake fluid. There’s no stopping Dr. Bob.
Jim Palmquist gave us a brief summary of the Rotary trip to Romania. Their team will be visiting us in May of 2017.Thanks, Jim. They seem to be a fun group.
Gloria Zimmerman is Happy to have Vern here today.
Dale Utt asked for good luck for Bob Nagle who is getting a new hip today.
Dottie Bloom thanks Mike G. for helping her to update her ClubRunner profile, and for how to Skype so she can stay in touch with Michaela.
Bill and Sue Weber enjoyed a great trip through Arizona and attended a Rotary meeting.
Sue Weber said that their Hilton Head house still is standing after hurricane Matthew, but there is much damage, debris and repair needed. They are going there Saturday.
Herb Klotz had 4 happy dollars, starting with a new club banner picked up by Gwenn and Gary.
Herb encourages members to visit other RCs and to exchange banners.
On Tuesday evening Oct 25th there were 15 folks that met to discuss a new RC in the Whitehall area.
Two days ago Herb got word from Sierra Leone that the Centennial School has received a new grant of $75,000 for construction of facilities.
And Herb extends our thanks to all of those volunteers who made the Purple Pinkie event so successful.
Ralph Witcher said he is just plain happy!
PROGRAM:
Our program today was a get acquainted presentation by Martina Calleri, our Youth Exchange student for this school year and attending Parkland High School. She began by presenting President Dan with a banner from her Argentinian host Rotary Club.
Marti is from a small town of El Galatate in the very southern part of Argentina in the Province of Santa Cruz. This is in the Patagonian region set between the Andes mountains to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Los Glaciares National Park, home to the massive Perito Moreno Glacier, is known for its ever-shifting icy landscape. El Chaltén and El Calafate are towns that act as hubs for exploring Los Glaciares. There is snow in most of the Winters there, but not a lot.
Marti has a younger sister and they live with their parents. And she has a dog. She showed a series of pictures of her family members that included Grandparents and Cousins. She also showed us a video about Argentina that included lively music (the Tango) and some fabulous scenery.
She noted that there are 60 million people in Argentina. The National Sport is Soccer; surprise. And Beef is a major product.
Marti says she is very happy to be with us and is enjoying Parkland High School.
