Our Greeter today was Jean Masiko and she did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. We sang the National Anthem, and said the Pledge of Allegiance. Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
President Dan reminded us of the word from the country: “Wine is like duct tape. It fixes everything.”

President Dan showed a slides of the 11-5 Rodale Park workers, and also the Lowhill Food Pantry volunteers.
AWRC ANNUAL ELECTION
Herb Klotz explained that the 3 member nominating committee is working a slate of Officers and Committee Chairs for the 2017-2018 Rotary year. In December the AW members will be voting.
There are 4 open positions that you may volunteer for, or recommend some other member for. They are:

The next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting is TOMMOROW November 10th at the Holiday Inn. AW Foundation Chair David Caccese will discuss the RI Foundation.
The Thursday Eve meeting after that will be the following week because Thanksgiving is upon us.

Nov. 11th Friday is AW helping deliver Meals on Wheels again. Meet at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Baptist Church.

Gwenn Carr reminds us that Tempting Tastes 3 will happen in April. Also the donated paper products still are for sale. So far $100 has been realized.
President Dan reminds us that there is great Rotary information available each meeting at the front table. This includes AW Banners for you to exchange when you visit other RCs.
We still are taking donations for ShelterBoxes for those who were affected by Hurricane Matthew and the earthquakes in Italy. Make checks out to AW Club Foundation and give to Dale Hostetter.

LUCK of the DRAW:
Today’s door prize breakfast donated by Jean Masiko was won by Gary Englehardt. Then Ralph Witcher’s ticket was drawn and he selected the white marble and did not win the $31 in the new 50:50 pot.
FINES:
S-a-A Don Davis fined Jeanne Shipe for having her picture in the paper, even though she was doing her civic duty and voting.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Jeanne Shipe is happy that she will be attending the Rotary at the U.N. event this Saturday. It took 3 years to get a ticket.
Geoff Legg was happy with his response to an Electric Company salesperson who called. He told them his home was all solar powered.
Herb Klotz had two happy dollars. He and Ronnee were in Atlanta last week and visited the homes of two prior Presidents -- one of his favorite things. They went to Warm Springs, and FDR special spot. And they went to Plains and met Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.
Wendy Weaver is pleased to report that last weekend she rook our Youth Exchange student, Marti, to Happy Valley. Marti saw her first ice hockey game, then experienced tail-gating and the PSU football game -- they won.
Ginny Sandoval is happy that Wendy continued Marti’s American experiences. Ginny asks other AW Rotarians to find things to do for Marti, especially over the next few weeks when Ginny will be really busy.
President Dan waved an LCCC newsletter that mentions AWRC and the Purple Pinkie race we held there.
Ralph Witcher told a joke. Mitch Huston abstained from telling a joke (thankfully). Then our speaker Doc Ogden told a Dr. joke. President Dan likes us to tell jokes. He wants us to laugh during each meeting.
Murtaza Jaffer noted that the Allentown RC is looking to add members.
PROGRAM:
The Doctors Ogden Group, LLC a.k.a. TDOG are located on Chew Street in Allentown.
Dr. James R. Ogden (Doc) is currently a professor of Marketing at Kutztown University as well as CEO of the Consulting Firm The Doctors Ogden Group. He is in demand as a public and motivational speaker.
Dr. Denise T. Ogden is in her eighth year and is now Associate Professor in Marketing at Penn State University’s Lehigh Valley College. Prior to pursuing a career in academia, Dr. Ogden worked in Public Relations for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
TDOG's mission is to help companies realize their potential by providing marketing services that produce results. In the case of Rotary their program today is entitled: “We Have Met the Potential New Members and They Ain't Us: A look at the psychographics of the young.”
Doc Ogden said that he wife, Denise, does all of the research work. He said that today’s program is intended to help a volunteer group find more candidates for membership. To do this we need to understand and identify our target audience starting with Millennials, and then the generation before them.
It is important to look in a likely geography that is sensible for where we meet. And since we are looking for people who will join a group, let’s look at other existing groups for candidates.
It is critical to communicate with candidates using the proper media selections. Doc Ogden does not use a smart phone himself, but he understands its uses.
Doc says marketing is all about building satisfying relationships. Our “customers” are the future members. What we offer as members has to satisfy what our customers are looking for. Do they want to serve others, for example.
It is most important that we understand the proper way to communicate with each potential member. Then we have to communicate our stories and provide reasons for joining us.
