COLLECION FOR FOOD PANTRY:
As we do each month a cash donation collection was conducted so we can purchase fresh produce for the Lowhill Food Pantry. The total today was $316.
RECOGNIZING NEW MEMBER SPONSOR:
President Herb presented Bob Nagle with recognition of his sponsoring new member, Tim Rushton this Rotary year.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Last Wednesday was snack packing again at NWL that included 10 volunteers.
April 14th was a Thursday evening Happy Hour meeting at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville . See separate article.
Today is volunteering at the Lowhill Food Pantry and also snack packing at Parkland HS. Tomorrow also is volunteering at Lowhill FP.
Also New Member Orientation will be rescheduled to match members’ availability.
Friday April 22nd is DINING OUT at Wert’s Café. Seating will be random.
April 23rd, Saturday, is the Community Resources Fair at Jordan Lutheran Church and we plan to have a Rotary info table. We need volunteers for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Gloria.
April 27th is snack packing at NWL.
April 28th, Thursday, is our next evening Happy Hour meeting. Herb Klotz will provide a Sierra Leone update. Come join us and bring guests.
The Tempting Tastes 2 full committee will meet on Friday, May 6th.
Gwenn Carr noted that the TT2 calendar date also is the Charter Birthday of AWRC. So there will be birthday cake at TT2.
Gwenn also had two silent auction items displayed at the meeting.
There was a meeting of the International Committee and there is a plan to meet with Dr. Suprun of the University in the Ukraine this Friday.
The next Youth Services Committee meeting is scheduled for May 4th -- after our regular meeting at which we get to sample snacks from “29 Cooks.”
April 30th there is a LV Farm Festival at Ontelaunee Park and we plan to have a Rotary info table from 11 to 6 pm. We need volunteers for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and someone to lead them. Contact Gloria.
May 7th is the Ziegels Church second annual Yard Sale fundraiser with half the proceeds going to NWL snack packs.
May 14th is the District Training Assembly at DeSales University. All new committee members are urged to attend.
May 15th is Tempting Tastes 2. Buy tickets and also sell to others, please.
May 17th is the Million Dollar Journey Dinner in King of Prussia. RI President “Ravi” is the keynote speaker. Tickets are $45 each.
May 18th our meeting is at LCCC with our annual scholarship awards.

Next week our scheduled Greeter is Michaela Luzicova, and the program will be a presentation by PA Senator Pat Browne..
BANNERS WANTED:
President Herb once again calls for members to donate any banners that we have from visiting other RCs. He has a bunch and he has a plan for them.
HOST FAMILIES FOR Y.E. STUDENT NEEDED:
In order to have an Inbound Youth Exchange student assigned to AW Rotarian care for the 2016-17 school year, we need to have at least two -- preferably three -- host families committed to this in the next few weeks. They do not have to be Rotarians. We have one host signed up in the Northwestern S.D. so we need at least 1 more. Or we can do this with two from the Parkland S.D.
ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK:
The AW Rotarian of the week is Gil Keller, a local Funeral Director for the last 47 years. His wife and daughter also are Funeral Directors.
Gil joined AW Rotary in 1971 and served on the Exchange Committee, and as our President for the 1980-81 year. The Kellers are proud to have hosted four exchange students.

Today we had two door prizes. Halyna Stegura won the prize that she donated last week. And the bottle of wine donated by Bill Weber was won by Joe Goll.
Then Chris Blechschmidt’ s ticket was drawn and he pulled out a white marble and did not win the $125 in the 50:50 pot.
FINES:
S-a-A Don Davis fined Jeanne Shipe and David Caccese for being late. And he again caught Herb with an error on one of his slides.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Halyna is happy that Dawn Costello is back after a long illness. And many members donated happy dollars for Dawn’s return as well.
Gloria is most happy to report that Bob Nagle has presented us with a check donated by the Ebenezer Church for $442 toward feeding the hungry.
Jean Masiko is happy to report that Joel’s daughter is OK, and their granddaughter survived the Texas floods by being on the third floor.
Al Lewis is happy that he and some guests went and visited an Alpaca Farm and loved it.
Herb and Ronnee Klotz were in North Carolina and got to see their granddaughter begin to crawl. He also visited a local RC and brought back a few ideas.
PROGRAM:
Today President Herb conducted a Club Assembly. He began with a review of this year’s goals and our progress on them:
1. Community Service Projects, such as Food Pantry, Snack Packs, Miracle league, etc. are numerous and worthy. Thanks go to all AW members and their families.
2. International Service continues as we have applied for a District Grant to begin planning a project with medical professionals in the Ukraine.
3. Youth Services include two active Interact Clubs, as well as a fabulous Exchange student Michaela Luzicova.
Both Interact Clubs have earned the RI Presidential Citation for 2015-16.
4. Membership is growing nicely with 3 to induct in two weeks taking us to 72 Active -- up from 59 on July 1, 2015.
Over 90% of our members are involved in one or more projects or club administration functions. This is phenomenal!
5. We have almost reached our $10,000 goal of contributions to the RI Foundation’s Annual Fund, and the $1,000 goal for PolioPlus.
6. AW Rotarians again have earned an RI Presidential Citation for 2015-16, one of only four D7430 RCs to do so.
7. AW Rotarians hold many great fellowship events, such as Mixers, Dining Out, and Picnics.
8. During the 2015-16 Rotary year AW Rotarians have generated a record number of PR incidents about our many good works. And then Herb and the Sierra Leone travelers through Brussels added even more.
And we have added Google drive archiving, updated weekly Facebook info and current newsletters and website.
NEW POSITION ACCEPTED:
Dale Heffner will be a co-chair of the Youth Services Committee.
Ginny Sandoval will serve as AWRC Membership Chair.
Mitch Huston will serve as the Chair of the PR & Marketing Committee.

OPPORTUNTIES:
We still need to fill the Vice President’s position.
All AW Rotarians are asked to go into our ClubRunner website, log in, find your profile, and update your contact info and ADD YOUR D.O.B. -- date of birth. We need more statistics.
Our goal of averaging 15 attendees at each Thursday evening meeting has not been reached yet, So far our average is 10. But we now have eight members in the “Thursday Only” group, so we are on our way.
We urge all members to attend the May 14th District Training Assembly at DeSales University. President Elect Dan wants some company.
COMMITTEE UPDATES:
Herb identified six tables for the six club committees and asked committee members or those just curious, to gather at those tables for a 15 minute update. We discussed current activities and needs, upcoming projects and ways to keep succeeding.
CLOSING:
Halyna Stegura again hit the right note to start us on a nice rendition of “God Bless America.” Then we recited the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
