Our Greeter today was David Caccese and he did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane rang the bell a bit after 7:30 a.m. Then Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
Today we sang the National Anthem as we watched a video. Then we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says that the word from the country is from Thomas Paine who said: “The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.”

STUDENT OF THE MONTH:
KATELYN MORRISON is the AW Rotary Student of the Month for
February 2017. Rev. Jeff Kistler made the presentation and Katelyn gave a very nice thank you to us. See separate article.
President Dan showed pictures from last week starting with Gwenn Carr and Arch Klumph and following with Father Tim, Wenda Boyer and Karen Legg. Herb presented Dan with a banner from the RC of Waikiki Beach, Hawaii.
TRIBUTE TO RUDY:
Ernie Boll reminds us of the many contributions made by an early member, Rudy Mohr. Rudy was part of Mohr Orchards and weekly brought fruit to the meeting to be auctioned off.
TEMPTING TASTES 3:
President Dan showed pictures of food ads for some of the restaurants. We still need more auction items, as well as donations to the basket of cheer.
NEW WHITEHALL AREA CLUB:
Herb Klotz said that their third provisional meeting went well. They have scheduled their Charter Night event for Tuesday March 28th.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dan continues to e-mail us an updated list of volunteer opportunities and future events.
Feb 24th is Dining Out at the Stoned Crab in Macungie. We must pre-order from the limited menu Ronnee Klotz has. We need this by Feb 19th if possible, the 22nd at the latest.
Also we expect to have some Interact Students attend Tempting Tastes 3 and would like our members to sponsor them. It’s just $25 pp and so far we have six sponsored.
Dorothy Bloom has said that Feb 20th we drive for Meals on Wheels. Please sign up ASAP so the proper paperwork gets done. We start at the Trinity Church.
Ginny Sandoval is asking for donations to prepare a “Basket” for auction at the March 11th D7430 Foundation Gala.
The next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting is February 23rd
at the Holiday Inn. The program will be planning for growth.
Mar 8th, is a Women’s Day meeting at Cedar Crest College. DG Linda Young is a featured speaker. Regisdtration is open via the Chamber of Commerce.
Mar 11th, is the District Foundation Gala. See separate article. Herb Klotz encourages members to attend. This is a celebration of 100 years of the Rotary Foundation. Registration is open and it’s $55 per person.
May 6th -- Farm Fest at Ontelaunee Park
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation.

Al Lewis is happy that his Physical Therapy is completed.
Bill Palmer is doubly happy that a Bernese Mt. Dog placed 4th in its group at Westminster KC last evening, AND that a German Shepherd Dog named Rumor won the top prize of Best in Show. Bill has had 7 GSDs and 5 Berners in his life so far.
David Caccese is happy to welcome today our two guests from the Ukraine. And he thanks Ralph Witcher for delivering our guests here from Newark airport. And he is pleased with the Good Shepherd people.
Ihor Fedoriw thanks David for his management skills with this Grant and the planning for this visit.
Mary Anne Wright is happy that her great staff at NWL turned a power outage from a disaster to a field trip for students that they loved.
Ginny Sandoval is happy for the warm greetings that they experienced crossing back into the U.S. after a few days touring in Cuba.

P-E Mike Gschwendtner is doubly happy. He avoided having a job transfer to New York state, and he has been promoted by Siemens to be the Central N.J. Regional Manager. Congratulations, Mike.
Ralph Witcher is happy that he was able to get our Ukrainian visitors here after being delayed on the ground at Newark airport for 3 hours.
Geoff Legg is happy that Katelyn is planning to attend Muhlenberg College.
PROGRAM:
David Caccese our Foundation Chair told us about the District Grant that we received last year. It provides half of the funds we are using to have our two guests from the Ukraine here for their two weeks of training at Good Shepherd in aspects of Physical Therapy. David emphasized that it is our contributions to the RI Annual Fund that allows these grants to happen.
David thanks the AW Rotarians who are hosting our guests, along with those who are providing their local and airport transportation. Davis also thanks the folks at Good Shepherd for putting this project together with us.
David turned the meeting over to Stanislav Agafonov PT and Kostyantin Kalinkin PT , They represent the Ukrainian Catholic U- School of Rehab Med Vocational Exchange.
The mission of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine is to return patients to an independent and a normal life by respecting their dignity and changing society’s attitude towards people with disabilities through a system of rehabilitation that recognizes, promotes and protects human rights.
Kostyantin showed some slides and reminded us the Dr. Suprun vested with our committee last April as we made these plans. She has since been promoted. This project also has support from medical people in Canada, Latvia and Poland.
Stanislav told us that there was no real Physical Therapy available in the Ukraine until three years ago. Now in September 2017 the classes begin at the University for Professionals and Therapists.
