Our Greeter today was Joe Goll and he did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. Then Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation, including special mention of AJ and Mike Henry.
Today we sang the National Anthem as we watched a newer video. Then we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says that the word from the country is from Groucho Marx who said “Outside of a dog a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it is too dark to read.”

UKRAINE GRANT:
David Caccese told us that the papers for our other Ukrainian visitor are coming through. David has a signup sheet going around for volunteers to help look after our Ukraine visitors from Feb 12th to Feb 24th. Transportation is needed both to and from the airport, and locally to their training at Good Shepherd. This is our District Grant for this year. Host families are needed as well. And taking the visitors to some social events is appropriate.
David also said that on Feb 18th at the Zoellner Center the National Symphony of the Ukraine will perform.
President Dan showed photos of Dottie Bloom and Arch Klumph, as well as pics of Vern Fenstermaker’s 97th birthday party last Wednesday. Then we saw pics of Sunday’s Board Game event that Ginny Sandoval put together, and finally Puxatawny Phil whom we hope does not see his shadow tomorrow.

Jean Machamer reminds us that Feb 29th is Dining Out at the Stoned Crab in Macungie. Must pre-order.
On Feb 8th the NWL Interact students are having a floor hockey game.
Ginny Sandoval is asking for donations to prepare a “Basket” for auction at the March 11th D7430 Foundation Gala.
Dorothy Bloom reminds us that Feb 20th we drive for Meals on Wheels. Please sign up ASAP so the proper paperwork gets done.
The next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting is February 9th at the Holiday Inn. The program will be planning for growth.
Mar 8th, is a Women’s Day meeting at Cedar Crest College.
Mar 11th, is the District Foundation Gala. See separate article. Herb Klotz encourages members to attend the District Foundation Gala. This is a celebration of 100 years of the Rotary Foundation. Registration is open and it’s $55 per person.
May 6th -- Farm Fest at Ontelaunee Park
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation.

Bill Palmer is happy to report that Dale Heffner got a new hip joint on Monday morning and came back home the next day.
Al Lewis is happy to be done with his Physical Therapy.
Geoff Legg, filling in for Mitch Huston, told a Burger King story that really was B.S. You had to be here.
David Caccese is happy that the needed Ukraine visa came through, and for all the help members provide.
Dan Crane paid a dollar because his I.T. specialist had 29 days in February.
PAUL HARRIS AWARD:
Foundation Chair David Caccese asked Dr. Bob Gordon to come forward and awarded him his Paul Harris +4 recognition pin. David thanked Bob for supporting the Rotary Foundation that in turn allows us to do many projects.
PROGRAM:
Today’s program was Rotary fun with members telling their best Rotary stories. VP Jeanne Shipe received 15 e-mail responses to her questions from members. She said the overwhelming common thread is that Rotary provides friends and ways to serve others.
Jeanne led the group with some photos and introductions of members and asked each to say a few words. She read to us the comments she got from members who could not be here today.
Jean Masiko started off and told about bringing Joel into Rotary. She was followed by notes from Herb Klotz about the Million Dollar Dinner and Purple Pinkie highlights.
Bill Palmer told about special moments while delivering dictionaries to 3rd graders. Jeanne and Ginny Sandoval also delivered dictionaries and felt good afterward.
Bob Gordon told how he prepared a long speech for the District Conference and had only 20 minutes allowed. But he met some nice Rotarians and joined up.
Gwenn and Gary talked about having Mexican Night in the Country, followed by Italian Night, etc.
Ernie Boll talked about taking 50 or more students on a 3 week Sumner Youth Exchange trip a few times.
Jeanne read Dawn Costello’s words about Rotary friendships.
Al Lewis said nice things about AW Rotarians and how he is pleased to be a member here.
