ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Great News! Take note of the fabulous wireless sound system in use for the first time at morning meetings. We tested it at last Thursday’s Networking event with great success. Gary did a good job selecting it.
Last Wednesday we did Snack Packing at Northwestern and had many volunteers.

Tomorrow Jan. 21st some volunteers still are needed at the Lowhill Food Pantry.
Our next Thursday evening meeting is January 28th at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville 5:30 to 6:30 PM.
February 3rd is the AWRC Speech Contest at LCCC. Volunteers for Judging and timekeeper are needed. Contact Gwen Pongracz.
Our Feb. 10th regular breakfast meeting will be held at the Northwestern Lehigh Middle School.
Feb. 15th Monday we volunteer for Meals on Wheels. See AJ Henry.
Dining Out in February will be on the 19th and at Eight Oaks with catering by “29 Cooks.” and a Brass Ensemble for entertainmen.
Jan 22nd is the next TT2 committee meeting.
The NWL HS Interact club students are selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts as a fundraiser. A sign-up sheet was circulated. And at Ernie’s suggestion some cash donations were collected.
The Annual D7430 Conference is coming up April 8 to 10 at Pocono Manor resort. Ads for businesses are being sought for the program.

.Each member is asked to e-mail a response to Herb about the Rotarian-of-the-Week program.
President Herb asks us all to e-mail him about any announcements to be made at future meetings so he can include them as part of his planned agenda.

ROTARIAN of the WEEK:
The AW “Rotarian of the Week” is Mustafa Jaffer who runs EBC, Express Business Center, in Trexlertown. He helps Rotarians in all kinds of ways with printing, marketing and serving on many of our committees.
Mustafa joined Rotary in 2010 sponsored by Gwenn Carr and Gary Englehardt. Mustafa says that every day it is an honor to be a Rotarian, He was most proud of Rotary when he was awarded his Paul Harris Fellow.
LUCK of the DRAW:
The door prize donated by Mustafa was a basket of goodies and was won by Joe Goll -- two weeks in a row.
George Ikeda drew out a white marble and did not win the $21 pot of the 50:50.
FINES:
Substitute S-a-A Geoff Legg fined Dan for Herb being late in ringing the bell. Also Joe came late and Dan had no pin. Bob Gordon was leaving early, but not sure when.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Jeanne Shipe was in Orlando, FL for 11 days attending 3 conferences. And she had a great visit with her sister and brother.
Gwenn Carr and also Ernie Boll are celebrating birthdays. We sang Happy Birthday to them.
Dottie Bloom and Rick are celebrating 37 years of marriage today. They also are about to have a live-in 16 year old daughter when Michaela moves in for the next 5 months.
Gwenn is happy to report that 96 tickets to the Tempting Tastes 2 event already have been purchased.
Ernie thanked Gloria for buying his breakfast this morning in honor of his having another birthday. So he donated $10 in happiness.
Herb is happy about something, as usual.
AUCTION:
Gloria donated a “Jenny’s Basket” of cookies, candies, etc. to be auctioned off to raise some needed money to pay for our all new sound system. The winning bidder was Dale Heffner.
PROGRAM:
Today’s program was a Club Assembly that had two sections. First, President Herb reviewed the many goals that AW Rotarians are working toward this Rotary year, and our progress over the first six months.
Member count -- we started with 59 active and will soon be at 67 with the next induction already scheduled.
New Sponsors of new members is 7 toward a goal of 10.
Member engagement is a fantastic 59 out of 57 being involved in something besides regular meetings.
Vocational Service progress is good with our Mixer last week, We have at least 3 offsite meetings coming up. Jeanne has scheduled almost monthly Classification Talks.
In the last six months AW Rotarians have volunteered 288 times for about 835 people-hours. We have raised $10,550 plus another $2,000 as in-kind services.
Club Service activities are at an all-time high.
Publicity has exceeded our goals in all ways.
Our Thursday Evening meetings average about 10 members and need to grow to at least 15. There now is a plan in place for Herb, Barb K. and Dennis Houser to manage these going forward.
Officer Continuity -- we still need a Vice President to take over in July 2018.
Donations to the RI Foundation’s Annual Fund are at $7,500 towards the $10,000 goal.
Donations to the RI PolioPlus fund are at $960 toward a $1,000 goal.
The District-wide Purple Pinkie 5K race that AW Rotarians made happen last October netted $7,500. So each of the 15 RCs who placed a $250 sponsorship were credited with a $500 donation to PolioPlus in their name.
The RI Presidential Citation for this Rotary year has some very difficult requirements and goals. But with 59 AW Rotarians doing so many good things, Herb is convinced that we have earned the citation.
AND --- we are having fun doing it.
Phase 2 of this Assembly began with Herb explaining what a “District Grant” is and how we have been working with them for the last 3 years. Then he distributed papers to each table and gave us 10 minutes to brainstorm for ideas for Local projects that are new and are sustainable for the 2016-17 Rotary year.
Each table had a person report the results and 16 ideas were presented. President-elect Dan Crane now has to sort through them and work with the Service committee to make our plan.
CLOSING:
We sang a rendition of “America the Beautiful.” Then we recited the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
