Meeting Notes March 11, 2015
Our Greeter this morning was Bob Gordon, and he did an excellent job.
President-Elect Herb filling in for Barb, rang the bell at 7:31 a.m.
Jean Masiko gave a very nice invocation. AJ Henry took notes.

GAMBLING:
The door prize gift donated by Bob Gordon was won by Joe Goll.
The 50:50 drawing was NOT won by Joel Masiko who selected a white marble.
S-A-A Don Davis fined Herb or ringing the bell late, Candi Cain-Borgman paid a dollar for being late,
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Dan Crane shared good news – he slipped on the ice, but fortunately, did not break anything!
Candi Cain-Borgman paid another dollar for Dawn Costello’s grandson being in a play at Northwestern-Damn Yankees & urged people to see the play – he is very good!
George Ikeda paid a happy dollar because his grandson, who plays lacrosse for the University of Maryland was named player of the week, also, his granddaughter, who is a substitute lacrosse player made 3 goals!
Gloria Zimmerman paid a happy dollar announcing that Don Davis, Dale Hostetter and she will be delivering 30 dictionaries to the School where the children of the Burkholders attend. The Burkholders supply fresh vegetables for the Lowhill Food Pantry-which the club supports.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month will be evening meetings from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. @ the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville. Next evening meeting is tomorrow, March 12th.

Herb Klotz was asked to be a speaker at the District Conference next month and will be speaking about the $30,000 Global Grant received from RI for Sierra Leone.

and next week at Parkland High School same time;
Today’s collection for the Lowhill Food Pantry was $194.
Dave Dries spoke about the District Conference to be held in Historic Gettysburg, Pa., at the Wyndham Hotel Resort & Conference Center, April 24-25-26. Deadline to register is March 24th – You can register on line.
The special initiative starting right now is called “Purses for Polio” See details elsewhere.
The March AWRC board of directors meeting is next Tuesday, March 17th at Luther Crest starting at 7:15 a.m.
The March Dining Out will be at Hunan Springs on March 20th starting at 6:30 PM. Wednesday, March 18th is the deadline. Please sign up with AJ.
On Friday March 27th AW Rotarians will have a JOINT LUNCHTIME MEETING with the Allentown RC at the Renaissance Hotel where the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.N. will be featured.

Our regular Wed a.m. breakfast meeting STILL will be held that week.
In Gwenn Carr’s absence, AJ Henry reminded everyone about our Tempting Tastes Fundraiser scheduled for Sunday, May 3rd calling attention to the forms in their white folders, asking members to try to obtain at least five admissions, as well as getting sponsors.
Also, Halyna Stegura reminded everyone about getting silent auction items for the event. Herb will be collecting the forms, Herb also said more restaurants are needed to participate in the event;

The Greeter scheduled for the March 18th meeting is Dorothy Bloom.
The program will be Dr. Mary Waters, Sociologist, Harvard University.
PROGRAM:
Since the speaker, State Representative Gary Day did not show up, President-Elect, Herb spoke about the $30,000 Global Grant and what it will be used for in the Sierra Leone Centennial School.
There are 4 parts to the Grant:
1-The need for a two part training course for all the 50 teachers
2- Hlavu Maj Hore text books for students
3-Provide equipment for electrifying the Adm. Building with capabilities for printing, public address system and for additional lighting
and to also provide charging stations for laptops & cell phones and
4-Provide solar electrification system for the Library.
CLOSING;
President-Elect Herb hit the right note to start us singing a good rendition of “God Bless America.” This was followed by the recitation of the Pledge to the Flag of the United States and then the saying “One profits most who serves the best.”
