Our Greeter today was Ron Coleman and he did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 a.m. Then someone gave a very nice invocation.
Today we sang the National Anthem along with the Gaither Vocal Band. Then we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan says that the word from the country is from John Quincy Adams who said “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION:
Today we celebrated long time member George Ikeda’s 95th birthday which happens on the 25th. George has been sent many birthday cards and today we had a cake we all shared in his honor. The birthday festivities for George started with balloons from Gloria, a short video, birthday cake complete with a lotus candle and sang happy birthday. We viewed several slides with pictures of George and his family. George and his son, Doug, told us about the pictures and who was in them
President Dan showed many slides of photographs from the week’s activities including the TT3 planning meeting, our Ukrainian visitors, food pantry, snack packing and last week’s meeting
TEMPTING TASTES 3:
We expect to have some Interact Students attend Tempting Tastes 3 and would like our members to sponsor them. It’s just $25 pp and so far we have six sponsored. We now are up to 85 auction items and would like some more.

Feb 24th is Dining Out at the Stoned Crab in Macungie
Dorothy Bloom said that on Feb 20th we drove for Meals on Wheels.
Ginny Sandoval is asking for donations to prepare a “Basket” for auction at the March 11th D7430 Foundation Gala.
The next Thursday Evening Happy Hour meeting is TOMORROW February 23rd at the Holiday Inn. The program will be a planning session for upcoming networking events and service projects.
Mar 8th, is a Women’s Day meeting at Cedar Crest College. DG Linda Young is a featured speaker. Registration is open via the Chamber of Commerce.
Mar 11th, is the District Foundation Gala. See separate article. Herb Klotz encourages members to attend. This is a celebration of 100 years of the Rotary Foundation. Registration is open and it’s $55 per person.
March 28th is the Charter Event for the Whitehall Area Club. The cost will be in the $25 - $30 range. There are currently 19 people signed up.
May 6th -- Farm Fest at Ontelaunee Park; AWRC will have an Info table; volunteers are needed.
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation.

Then Ihor Fedoriw ’s ticket was drawn and she selected a white marble and did not win the $54 in the 50:50 pot.

There were lots and lots of happy dollars today. Most were for George’s birthday well wishes.
Mitch Huston’s birthday is today and in honor of it, he presented a check for $100 to Snack Packs. Thank You, Mitch.
PROGRAM:
Mary Anne Wright introduced today’s speaker, Willard “Bill” Dellicker, Navy Pilot in Vietnam and Author of Tailhooker. Tailhooker refers to a military pilot who has landed on an aircraft carrier using a tail hook to catch the arresting wire on the flight deck. Tailhookers who wear the US Navy Wings of Gold are renowned as the most skilled pilots in the Aviation community.
This book tells the story of a twenty year-old drafted into military service during the Vietnam War, then applying to enter US Navy pilot training. His historically accurate story begins with highlights of his Navy flight training to his assignment as an A-4 Skyhawk pilot in VA-22 The Fighting Redcocks.
The book chronicles facts about the frustrating air war in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 through Lt. Dellicker's three tours as an Attack pilot and LSO. Intertwined with the war stories and close calls is a love story of two young people who met, became engaged in two weeks, and endured 18 months of war-time separation.
Now, after 45 years of marriage this story was written for their kids and grandkids as an accurate historical account of the Vietnam War, True Love, and Faith in God.
Bill brought books along for purchase and stayed after the meeting and signed copies for those interested. He later donated the proceeds to our NWL Snack Pack project.
