Our Greeter today was Donna Beach and she did a marvelous job.
President Dan Crane rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting.
Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation with special mention of Vernon Fenstermaker, George Ikeda and AJ Henry.
The assembled then sang the National Anthem, with a video accompaniment and then recited the pledge of Allegiance.
President Dan Crane says the word from the country is “A man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd.” Said Max Lucado.

Martina Calleri, Youth Exchange student from Argentina; Gretchen Tonno, guest of Herb Klotz, and former Y.E. student.
President Dan showed many slides of photographs from our last meeting including our speaker, Dr. Ted Schick, Mitch “Henny” Huston and some pics from the RI Convention in Atlanta last week. And there was Herb Klotz plus the Lowhill Food Pantry plus a pic of Barb Kistler at the LV Zoo where she was volunteering last Saturday.

President Dan continues to e-mail us and provide hard copies of an updated list of volunteer opportunities and future events.
Our next Thursday Evening meeting will be TOMORROW June 22nd at the Pub at the Holiday Inn starting at 5:30 P.M. The business portion will feature Dale Hostetter about the budget results.

Jun 28th -- AWRC Changeover meeting at Luther Crest.
Jun 30th is DINING OUT at Nostos Greek Restaurant at 701 N. 19th Street in Allentown, 6 PM start; free glass of wine, or BYOB.
PARTY FOR Marti:
On July 9th there is a party for this year’s Youth Exchange Student, Marti, starting at 4:00 PM at the Earl Adams Memorial Park at 8935 Breinigsville Rd. Please bring beverages and a food item for your group to share around. There is a pavilion reserved. Wendy Weaver has a sign-up sheet going around.
THURSDAY EVENING MIXER:
July 13th at Eight Oaks Distillery with your guests. Let’s have a great turnout. Please sign up so we get a headcount to order the food. Cost is $10 p.p. for members.
RI WEAPONS POLICY:
President Dan noted that RI has softened its proposed policy for July 1st, but the matter may be disputed in future months.
WE NEED MEETING VOLUNTEERS:
Every weekly meeting needs members to set up in advance, and also to take down and store the sound system, badge box, etc. Please consider providing this service for our members and sign up with P-E Mike G.
AWRC DISTRICT GRANT FOR 2017-18:
President Dan reports that our application has been accepted.
AND, of course, you always can have your breakfast at our meetings sitting with Arch Klumph for a donation of $26.50 --- or more --- to the Rotary Foundation. Over half of our members have done this.
NEXT WEEK our Greeter will be Bob Gordon and the program will be our annual changeover of AWRC leaders as we start the new Rotary year.

S-a-A Don Davis decided that each member present that is happy should donate a dollar towards his budget for the RI Foundation.
Then Herb Klotz noted that AWRC’s donations this year to the RI Polio Plus fund were $100 short of our goal. Bill Weber offered to match the first $50 and in a minute we had over $100 committed. Good job, folks.
The door prize, donated by Donna Beach was won by Gloria Zimmerman.
The $100 of the 50:50 pot was not won by Geoff Legg’s ticket being drawn.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Sue Weber is happy that Marti is with us today, Camp Neidig was wonderful, -- Thanks Mike G. for all of your hard work -- and for the great RI Convention in Atlanta last week.
Jeanne Shipe loved the Atlanta RI Convention and presented the club with a RC banner from Taiwan.
Herb Klotz loved the RI Convention and presented the club with a banner from the RC of Colby, Kansas and the Atlanta official banner. He said we all should go next year -- it’s in Toronto.
Halyna Stegura has just returned from driving daughter Mary and her belongings from Philadelphia to Orlando. Daughter Christina is on her way -- on her bicycle -- from California to Oregon.
Mitch Huston, our weekly joke teller, told a very funny story. Good one, “Henny.”
PROGRAM:
Our program today featured our 2016-17 Youth Exchange student, Martina “Marti” Calleri from Argentina. She says it has been a wonderful year of her life, starting with arriving at Newark airport. Her first two weeks had Sue and Bill Weber looking after her and showing her Lancaster and elsewhere and then delivering her to Parkland High School.
Marti’s first host family was with Ginny Sandoval and family where she found a new home. She was taken to New York City -- she went back 4 more times -- , Philadelphia, and other places. She especially loved the Halloween party, and showed a picture of the pumpkin jack-o-lantern that she carved. Marti said she did like going to Rotary meetings.
Wendy Weaver was Marti’s second host, and they went to some movies, a Penn State football game and her first hockey game. Marti loved Christmas in America. On Christmas Eve she worked as a volunteer. Wendy and Marti also toured Hershey, PA and enjoyed much chocolate.
Marti’s third host was Dana and Mike Gschwendtner and kids, whom Marti loved. She experienced her first Easter Egg hunt. She went shopping for a Prom dress and danced the night away at the Prom. And she attended the district conference in Lancaster. And this last weekend Marti had a great time at Camp Neidig.(RYLA)
Marti said that everything just went so fast. She now has so many new friends and will stay in touch. In two days Marti will go with other Y.E. students on a west coast tour. And she plans to visit us in the Fall with her parents.
Marti then showed a series of pictures of her memorable events this last year. She extends her heartfelt thanks to all of us for this fabulous experience.
After a standing ovation for Marti, Sue Weber came forward and presented our very good friend, Marti, with a gift from the club members. We applauded again.
