President Jeanne Shipe rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
Pres. Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite the Four-way Test. Then we recited the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag.

The picnic will be held THIS Sunday, August 19th at Tranquility Farm in Vera Cruz. Come starting at 4:00 PM; eat at 6:00 PM. Remember that there is fishing in the pond.
MEMBERSHIP MIXER PLAN:
Pres. Jeanne is planning a “Bring a Guest to Breakfast” Mixer at one of our regular Wednesday morning meetings. Details to follow.
NEW AWRC BANNER DESIGN SOUGHT:
Pres. Jeanne notes that we need to order more club banners, so it’s a good time to maybe redesign it with something specific to our served area. Please help.

John Scott encourages ALL AW Rotarians to send notes and pictures to him appropriate for our Facebook page.
RESTAURANT ADVERTISING NEEDED:
We need twelve (12) or more Restaurants to support Tempting Tastes 5, and we only have 4 so far. AW Rotarians are asked to tell restaurants that they use that AW Rotarians are eating there. We now have a sign to exhibit as we do our monthly Dining Out events.
DATE CHANGE -- ROTARY LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:
Now on Saturday, October 27th there is an RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) training session at DeSales University. AWRC members will have their registration fees reimbursed after they attend. This is a great opportunity to learn all about Rotary.
AWRC ANNUAL ROTARY SERVICE AWARD:
Chuck Ehninger reminds us that forms have been sent out and nominations can be accepted through September 30th.
THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be on August 23rd at 5:30 P.M. at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville.

The door prize i-Tunes donated by Hal Warner was won by Ron Coleman.
The 50:50 pot of $8 was not won .by Jerry Frank whose ticket was drawn. Many marbles return.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Ernie Boll says he is just plain happy.
Geoff Legg is happy to report that his grandson has just started at Hamilton College. He was the recipient of the Mike Henry scholarship.
Jeanne Shipe is doubly happy. She spent a long weekend back in Ohio with family. And she attended a baby shower that included a marriage proposal.
Ralph Witcher yesterday took his son to his job and saw the Parkland Interact student who was just graduated and learned that he is attending M.I.T.
PROGRAM:
President Jeanne introduced today’s speaker, member Diana Dunn giving her Classification Talk.
Diana was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, a Chicago Suburb. She is the youngest of five siblings who are scattered living in the Chicago area, Atlanta, and Charlotte. Diana is single and has no children.
Diana’s Mom still is healthy and active at 89. Her late Father, Dean Dunn, was a member of the Lions Club. Her Father sold Livestock Insurance.
And her older siblings participated in 4H clubs and showed cows. Diana took horseback riding lessons and tagged along to cow sales, too. Their childhood family vacations were in northern Wisconsin -- Winters were very cold and lhad ots of snow. They always held the annual Dunn toboggan run.
Diana’s outdoor passions include Hiker/ backpacker, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), and the Sierra Club. Then there is Cycling -- she toured the U.K. for 3 weeks on a bike. And there is Running and some Boating, too.
Diana’s many years of volunteer work started with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and she still is in touch with some she helped. She supported the Women’s 5K race and worked with Habitat for Humanity.
Diana attended the University of Illinois and studied Chemical Engineering. She moved to the Lehigh Valley after college. And eventually her volunteer efforts led her to be part of Engineers Without Borders. She is the current Vice President of the LV Chapter.
Through EWB Diana has been involved with the many projects at the Centennial School in Sierra Leone. She has made four trips to Sierra Leone and has worked with Rotarians there as well as our AW Rotarians in EWB. She noted the 2 Grants from Rotary that helped.
Diana’s professional life includes 31+ years as an employee of Air Products. At AP 25 years were with the Chemicals Group and 5 years with the Gases Group. Next she became part of the Process Engineering, Process R&D, Operations.
Her work travel has been a fun part of it. She lived in Manchester, England for 1 yr and had over 6 trips to China. She currently supports Air Separation & CO2 Plants in North America.
Diana wants to work on Local Rotary community projects. She enjoys the fellowship with likeminded people. And she says that “International Friendship Exchanges would be great.”
Diana answered some questions and discussed some details of the work at the Centennial School.
