PROGRAM:
Our program today was AWRC’s own Herb Klotz making his official visit as our 2019-20 District 7430 Governor.
Herb began by asking for a show of hands of members who have viewed one or more of the 3 minute monthly videos. There were many, which is good. Later Herb explained that he came up with the idea of video messages for each monthly District Newsletter. He just does not want to write his messages.
Herb said that last year Rotary developed a Vision statement:
“Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
So for this year the plan is to GROW ROTARY. Herb has this in four parts:
Grow our Membership
Grow our Service
Grow our Giving
Grow our Youth Programs
The elements of growing Membership are:
Start 3 New Clubs with 100+ net District membership Gain
Supporting District Activities
Member Attraction: We plan to hold 2 Area Mixers
Engagement: “Welcome to Rotary” events for new members are scheduled by regions and will start next month.
Public Image: Our District P.I. Chair, David Akers, will conduct a Club Facebook Training session for a ½ day on November 16th at Ursinus College.
Next is the plan to Grow the Impact of “The Rotary Foundation”. The goals are:
Have 35 Clubs Participate in District Grants
Grow Annual Fund-SHARE Giving by 10%
Grow “Purple Pinkie Race to Zero” Polio Plus Giving by 10%
D7430 already does a great job with District Grants. This year we have 34 District Grants Funded, and they involve 37 Clubs Participating.
For 2019-20 DG Herb challenges District 7430 to add:
100 additional Rotarians using Rotary Direct to donate on a continuing basis to the TRF Annual Fund. Rotary Direct is easy. Just go on line or on the phone and have money taken out of your credit card monthly, quarterly or annually.
25 additional Paul Harris Society Members. These folks each pledge to donate $1,000 or more each year to TRF. An $85 monthly contribution using Rotary Direct will get you there.
During Rotary year 2019-20 DG Herb will complete the last 125 miles of his Appalachian Trail Hike (2190 miles total)
For Polio Plus support there is the District 7430 Purple Pinkie Run/Walk that AW Rotarians will make happen on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, PA
We need People to be a Club Sponsor, Participate in the Event or be a Virtual Participant.
www.purplepinkie.net
This year’s Purple Pinkie Goal is $42,000 (All the Credit goes to Clubs & Rotarians). AND Every dollar raised will be matched 2 for 1 by the Gates Foundation
In support of expanding our Youth Services across the district, DG Herb has introduced a Rotary Club Youth Service Award, which is the District 7430 2020 Achievement Award. The Levels of Achievement are:
Platinum (9 programs)
Gold (8 programs)
Silver (7 programs)
Bronze (5 programs
Herb reviewed this year’s RI Presidential Citation for a RC.
The Program has Changed significantly and the Requirements are now achievable for most clubs. The program is a good measure of a Healthy, Vibrant Rotary Club.
The 2020 “Connections” District Conference has a Goal to have 400+ people attend. The Conference is on April 24-26, 2020 in King of Prussia. Three District Events are included in this one. There is the District Conference, the Foundation Gala (Friday Evening) and the District Training Assembly (Sat Morning).
“The Summit” Rotarian networking session (Sat Afternoon) is a new feature that includes every RC. We need all clubs to participate and suggest we set a goal of 20-25% of our club attending the conference.
Distinguished Speakers at the conference are:
Friday Night -- Rotarian Alan Mallory, an Inspirational Speaker, Author and Professional Development Coach. He is a Member of First Family to Climb Mt. Everest. His Topic: Achieving your Goals in Rotary.
Saturday Night -- Rotarian Dr. Stephanie Urchick, Rotary International Director 2019-21, Past Rotary Foundation Trustee, Chair, Rotary International Strategic Planning Committee. Her Topic: The Future of Rotary.
BTW, there are discount Conference Registration rates open now through December 31, 2019. Then there will be a la carte options available.
To conclude, DG Herb showed us his August DG Video message.

Pres. Amir closed our meeting by our reciting the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
