Geoff Legg, Ron Coleman, Dale Heffner and Ralph Witcher helped Jeanne set up for the meeting.
President Jeanne Shipe rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Joe Goll gave a very nice invocation with a special mention of Halyna Stegura’s upcoming eye surgery..
Pres. Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite Bob Gordon’s version of the 5 way test. Then we recited the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag.

P-E Amir Famili has circulated a sign-up sheet to schedule volunteers for the FIRST Saturday morning for the next 4 months from 8:30 to 11:00 A.M. to help bag and distribute fresh produce for the Lowhill Food Pantry clients.

ROTARY LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:
On Saturday, October 20th there is an RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) training session at DeSales University. AWRC members will have their registration fees reimbursed after they attend. This is a great opportunity to learn all about Rotary.

October 13th at LCCC is the date for the 5K run and Fun walk to raise funds to eradicate the last few cases of Polio from the world.
John Scott reviewed the 4 areas of need to make this AWRC event successful for our District again this year:
1. Participants to run or walk should sign up on Herb’s list, or go to purplepinkie.net to register.
2. If some members will not Run or Walk, please volunteer to help control car traffic, race directions, food distribution, or registration on site. Randy Beitler is the contact.
3. Make pledges to sponsor folks who will be racing.
4. Donate gift cards which are a highlight of the event that we raffle off at the end. Jennifer Stinson is the contact.
DISTRICT 7430 FOUNDATION SEMINAR:
This annual RI Foundation Seminar is scheduled for Saturday November 10th at MONTCO CC in Blue Bell.

NEW AWRC BANNER DESIGN SOUGHT:
Pres. Jeanne is asking for suggestions for a new banner design. The best 3 will be reviewed by the board at the Sept18th meeting. Then the club members pick the winner.
RESTAURANT ADVERTISING NEEDED:
We need twelve (12) or more Restaurants to support Tempting Tastes 5, and we only have 4 so far. AW Rotarians are asked to tell restaurants that they use that AW Rotarians are eating there. We now have a sign to exhibit as we do our monthly Dining Out events.
THREADS OF CHANGE UPDATE:
Dale Heffner noted that the Holiday Inn has been sold to Marriott/Delta. So we need to confirm that our container still can be stored there.
Dale reported that the Threads of Change folks will hold a “distribution event” on Sunday September 16th in Leesport from 4 to 9 PM.. And they need a volunteer or two from AWRC to help, especially with a pickup truck or a large vehicle.

THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be September 13th at 5:30 P.M. at the former Holiday Inn in Breinigsville. The program is making plans for future evening programs.

The door prize today was a Breakfast donated by Joe Goll, and it was won by Gail Micca.
The 50:50 pot of $30 was not won .by Jeanne Shipe whose ticket was drawn. Many marbles return.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Some member’s daughter as a Freshman made the Varsity soccer team.
Jennifer Stinson is happy that her own Audiology business is up and running. Her office is on West Tilghman.
Sue Weber had no comments today.
Ralph Witcher paid $2 to compliment Ron Coleman’s “good looking” legs; Ron was wearing shorts.
Geoff Legg also complimented Ron on his legs. Geoff then told of his grandson at Hamilton College who went on a 5 day camping weekend and did not bathe – but it rained the whole time.
Ralph Witcher quipped that “two Coleman legs do not equal one Geoff Legg.”
Bill Weber is very confused to hear that Sue had nothing to say.
Mitch Huston is happy to be going to Dallas this weekend to visit with his son.
Mitch also said that at Noon on Sept 30th at J. Birney Crumb stadium there will be a huge marching band competition.
PROGRAM:
President Jeanne began by noting that there have been 58 AWRC Presidents now. She reviewed some Rotary information and resources that are available to Rotarians.
These include the new ClubRunner App. She distributed a list of the members’ names from the ClubRunner database that are to be used as “user names” to log into ClubRunner and access the AW website.
The first time you set up your account the password is “6552.” Then you create your own password. We still recommend the ClubRunner App be added to your cell phone. It provides fast access.
President Jeanne also reviewed the world-wide structure of Rotary. The 2018-19 RI President is Barry Rassin, of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas.
RI divides the world into 34 Zones. The Zones are paired and each pair has a Zone Director that sits on the RI Board. Our District Number is 7430. We are part of Zone 32 and are paired with Zone 24 for training and annual Zone conferences.
Our District 7430 includes 45 Rotary Clubs in the 5 counties of Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Bucks and Montgomery . There are 9 areas in our district, each with an Assistant Governor. AWRC is in Area 1 and our AG is Gary Rohrbach (Emmaus RC) and gary was here two weeks ago with District Governor, Cindy Hornaman.
Jeanne referred to the monthly RI magazine, The Rotarian. The August issue has an article about treating violence as a disease. She reminds us that the mailing label each month has on it a number. That number is the Rotarian’s official I.D. number.
Jeanne also suggests that when we want to find Rotary info that we use Google. This takes you right to some useful specific answers. The rotary.org main website has the info, but sometimes is difficult to sort through, and it can be slow.
