MEMBERSHIP  IS  EVERY  MEMBER'S  BUSINESS

Each of us should seek out good candidates for our Rotary Club. Ask them to breakfast or to our Thursday evening meeting.

___________

Excuse me, do you have her email?

Yes! And so do you!      If you are a member of Allentown West Rotary, you have a ClubRunner (CR) account, and your phone number and e-mail address are in CR.

Need to contact a member for any reason? Download the ClubRunner app – it’s free, of course – and sign in! If you don’t know your password and login information, call Bill Palmer, and he will walk you through the process.  Why Bill? Because everyone knows how to get in touch with him! (Hint: just reply to this newsletter!)

Why would I want to use ClubRunner?

ClubRunner helps to organize us as a club. It is the platform for all our communications, and offers members an opportunity to stay in touch on various levels.

Here are just some reasons people use CR:
  • To call a member on club business, such as to get a ride to a meeting, find out the logistics of an event, or ask for help in getting club business done.
  • To make plans for a social gathering.
  • To check on their birthday so you could send a card. Or their address, same reason.
  • To check on their address before you head over to their house for an event, meeting, or to drop something off.
  • To find their email or phone number. Or work address.
  • Because you’ve forgotten the name of their spouse and you were up all night trying to remember it.
  • Find out the proper spelling of a member’s name.

What’s your best use of Club Runner?

THE TRUTH ABOUT ZOOM

Allentown West Rotary  Club
WHAT' GOING ON   – March 18, 2020

Your weekly A-W Bulletin is one way that we will use to keep you up to date about our Rotary club, while we wait for our regular meetings to resume.

Each of you is invited to send information about AWRC activities that can be put into the A-W.

MESSAGE FROM DG HERB:

“We have all received numerous emails about social distancing, washing our hands and being safe during this serious COVID-19 outbreak.  While we must heed all of these health and safety recommendations, we are also "People of Action" and there are people in our communities needing our help in many different ways. With this in mind, we are asking Rotarians to communicate these needs and stories of caring.  So far, we have identified three ways to do this:

1. Club Facebook Pages - Please share both local needs and stories of caring on your club Facebook pages and we will re-post on the District Facebook Page for broader communication.
2. District 7430 CAREmongers Facebook group - We have set up a Facebook group on our District 7430 Facebook page called "District 7430 CAREmongers" which you can join to share community needs so that others can help you address them (link is https://www.facebook.com/groups/645429832900910/).
3. email - For those who don't use Facebook, please share needs and stories of caring by responding to this email and we will do our best to communicate more broadly.

Let’s make a difference safely in our communities.

Finally, I would like to thank you for all your words of encouragement that I have received in the past day after sending out the District Conference cancellation notice.  It was very heartwarming to hear from all of you on that difficult day.  We are talking about a possible event in the early fall.  Stay tuned.

Yours in Rotary,                  DG Herb”

“I am writing to invite you to connect with other Rotarians during this trying time.

“There may be members in our club who could use a friendly phone call and a chat to lift their spirits.  I recently made some phone calls because I was trying to confirm the details on our new name tags and I really enjoyed the conversations with members, especially one of our newer members, David Haight.

“Let's use this time to find a new friend in our club.  Please take a moment today or tomorrow to make a phone call (or two or three) to someone in our club who you don't know very well.

“If you have never used club runner and you don't know how to connect with other club members, please let me know.  I would be happy to share phone numbers with you.

“As we work on ways to do our meetings online and until we meet again, keep the Rotary spirit alive and have some fun conversations :)
