Our Greeter today was Len Salines and he did a marvelous job.
President Elect Amir Famili rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting and welcomed all to AWRC. Then Len Salines gave a very nice invocation.
Amir began the meeting having the members recite the 4 Way test, followed with our saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
P-E Amir reported that the Northwestern Interact students raised $700 with their Krispy Kreme donut sale.
P-E Amir said that all 1,060 dictionaries have been distributed. He was present at the Truman elementary in Salisbury Twsp, and experienced a boy with tears when he found that he could keep the dictionary.
Amir reminds us that donations to pay for the dictionaries still are needed.
KINGDOM LIFE DATE CHANGE:
Chair, Jean Masiko, extends her thanks to the volunteers. The date for stocking shelves at Kingdom Life Family Center Food Bank for December is the second Friday.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
P-E AMIR FAMILI SAID that the volume of clients using the Food Pantry has increased markedly, and donations are still needed.
Please remember that the Collection jar is at the registration desk for cash and check contributions.
PARKLAND S.D. SNACK PACKING:
Chair, Gail Micca, reported that 240 packs were assembled last Wednesday. They will pack again on Dec 19th AND follow it with a Pizza Party.
MEETING FORMATS:
P-E Amir noted that our Nov 14th meeting was a special format, and the members agreed that it was well done. There will be another “Open House” like it on Wed a.m. in the Spring, plus 2 more on Thursday evenings with one on January 10, 2019.
THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be A SPECIAL held on November 29th at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville.

RI AWARDS GO TO AWRC:
DG Cindy Hornaman took to the microphone saying she likes surprises. She said that AWRC is one of the best RCs of the 45 in District 7430. Then she presented AW Rotarians with three special awards earned during the 2017-18 Rotary Year.
First is the very special recognition called the Presidential Citation.
Second was a recognition of the high per capita donations we made to Polio Plus.
Third was the Northwestern Interact Club’s award of an RI Presidential Citation.
P-E Amir introduced our Sgt-at-Arms, Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and Happy Dollars.
The door prize Breakfast donated by Len Salines was won by John Scott.
The $13 pot of the 50:50 was WON when Mercedes Scott drew S-a-A Mitch‘s ticket. Many marbles will be around for next week. Mitch donated the money back to the club as he said he would BEFORE the drawing.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Sue Weber is happy to have DG Cindy and our friends from Maine here today.
Bob Gordon is happy to announce that Shawn Fejes has reached his 40th birthday. We sang Happy Birthday to Shawn.
DG Cindy Hornaman noted that nobody introduced her at the start of this meeting. But then she realized that we were treating her as a member and she was happy.
Halyna Stegura is happy to be here. And she told us that daughter, Christina now holds the title of “Diplomat” in the U.S. State Dept. Christina now is living in Togo, a West African nation on the Gulf of Guinea.
Bill Palmer forgot to tell us that Wendy Weaver is back in the Villages in Florida and says “Hello.”
Bill Weber was happy to reminisce about how he and Sue spent many years vacationing in Maine. And he recalled the times that he flew his plane to New England and brought back a bunch of Lobsters for the RC parties.
David Haight is happy that finally their house in N.J. is emptied out and up for sale. He plans to be here more often going forward.
PROGRAM:
Barbara Kistler, our RC Foundation Chair, led the program today. November is Foundation month in the Rotary world, and today she explained how the Rotary Foundation (TRF) saves and changes lives by “Doing Good in the World.”
Barb began by having a volunteer, Ralph Witcher, come forward to where 3 labeled baskets were. One basket was AWRC, one was AWRC Foundation, and the third was labeled TRF.
Ralph was given 3 cards of items of revenue and he had to decide into which basket they should go. Then Barb gave him 3 cards to show from which basket items would be paid. With some guidance from the members all 6 cards were put in their proper places -- with the reasons why explained.
Barb distributed copies of a questionnaire about Rotary history. Each table marked their answers and then they were discussed. Rotary indeed was begun by Paul Harris -- a Lawyer -- and 3 other businessmen in Chicago in 1905. Paul spent many years seeing that new RCs were started around the U.S. and then into Canada.
Barb explained that TRF has three principal funds for donations, The Annual Fund-SHARE, PolioPlus and the Endowment fund. We prefer that donations usually go to the Annual Fund-SHARE, since 3 years later half the funds come back to our district and become funds for District and Global Grants.
Donations to TRF can be made on line at rotary.org and click on the right “Donate.” And checks can be made out to TRF and processed through our Treasurer, Chris Blechschmidt.
Barb reminds us that through the month of November every donation will be matched by dollars or recognition points as an incentive to move you to your next Paul Harris Fellow recognition award..
Also on line you can donate by setting up your credit card for monthly, quarterly, or annual automatic donations that just happen. You don’t have to think about it and you and our RC get credited.
TWO NEW PHF AWARDS:
Barb called Herb Klotz and Gwenn Carr to the front and gave them their newly earned Paul Harris Fellow pins. Gwenn now is a PHF +4 and Herb is a PHF +6.
Then barb read a list of over 30 AW Rotarians who are PHFs and asked us to stand and be recognized.
SPECIAL MAJOR DONOR AWARDS:
DG Cindy and DGE Herb called Barbara and Jeff Kistler forward. They have recently achieved “Major Donor” status at RI, which is giving $10,000 or more in cash. They each were given their proper lapel pins and certificates. Congratulations and thanks, Kistlers.
