Today was an In-Person meeting at the Parkland Memorial Library with 31 people present.
A very nice breakfast food was made by the Buttered Crumb. Our Greeter and host was Debbie Jack, Executive Director of The Parkland Library.
Treasurer Chris Blechschmidt handled the Registration and the Happy Dollars and the 50-50 with Tori Morgan’s and Ron Coleman’s help.

OPENING:
Pres. Gail Micca at 7:30 rang the bell and started the meeting.
Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
Then Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S. Gail then led us in the recitation of the Four Way Test to which we added “Is it fun?”
AWRC HISTORY STORY:
NWL Interact Club Advisor, Jean Machamer, delivered today’s story about AWRC‘s two H.S. Interact Clubs that we support.

1) Complete the Volunteer Application
2) Complete the PA Clearances
3) Complete the Disclosure Statement if you have lived in PA for 10 consecutive years. If you have not lived in PA for 10 years then you must complete the FBI fingerprint clearance (information on this process is included in the PA Clearances document).
4) Review the PowerPoint Youth Protection Training and fill out the Completion Form
5) Print and complete the attached Essex Clearance forms (you only need to print the first page of the Disclosure and Authorization form). Completed forms and a $20 check made out to Essex should be mailed to:

DISASTER RELIEF:
So far we have $1,15O towards matching what our Interact clubs have donated to the Rotary Foundation Disaster Relief Fund for Ukraine.
PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S.:
Karen Rodgers will lead the next event on May 7th.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD BANK:
The next distribution is on May 14.
ROTARY DAY OF SERVICE -- APRIL 30:
Jeanne Shipe will lead the AW Rotarians who will work with members of the downtown Allentown RC to operate a day of “Shredding” at the Lower Macungie Township Building on Brookside Road. Anybody can bring up to 4 boxes of items to be shredded.
Volunteers are needed for 9:30 A.M. to 1 P.M.
YAPPY HOUR:
Pres. Gail said that we are considering holding evening “Yappy Hours.”
SNACK PACKS:
Pres. Gail will Chair this program for the next few months.
The date is today for Northwestern Lehigh with Jean Machamer leading..
April 27th is the next packing event at Parkland H.S. Volunteers are needed.

AWRC GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Today after our in-person meeting at the Parkland Community Library, we had a tour of the AW Gardens. It was a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“KINDER KINDNESS” PROGRAM:
This new program is underway. We have purchased 700 books for Parkland kindergarten children, and also 150 books for Northwestern Lehigh kids. AW Rotarians can help deliver them.
R.Y.L.A CAMP NEIDIG:
The Camp Neidig Registration Site is now officially open! Our 2022 Camp Neidig Youth Leadership Program will be held June 17th- June 20th at Camp Manatawny. All forms are available on that website https://www.campneidig.com/forms--registration.html.
If appropriate, PLEASE download the Neidig Chairperson packet as it has all the necessary registration instructions.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for students to attend camp.
AW Rotarians are needed to volunteer for this weekend.

PROGRAM:
Program Chair Ralph Witcher introduced Debbie Jack, Executive Director of The Parkland Library to give her Classification Talk.
Debbie is from Long Island, N.Y. She got married 25 years ago. She met her husband while in college. He has just retired.
They have two children. Ryan is 15 and attends Emmaus HS. Hallie is 19 and a Junior at University. Maggie is the dog that they rescued.
Jackie had no training for library work and was heading toward a medical support degree. She worked in the library -- one of nine -- and disliked the medical track. She went back to the Library in 2000, and has been at Parkland for 11 years. She holds a Master’s degree.
Debbie showed a series of slides that explained “What Your Library Can Do For You.”
