Our Greeter today was Tim Smith and he did a marvelous job.
President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation with a very special prayer for Chris Hornaman.
Pres. Mike began the meeting having the members recite the Five-way Test with the fifth question, “Is it Fun?” We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.

ANNUAL DISTRICT TRAINING ASSEMBLY:
DGE Cindy Hornaman reminds us of the May 12th District Training Assembly at DeSales University. All are welcome.
THREADS of CHANGE UPDATE:
Dale Heffner shared a note from Jessica Nonnemacher stating that last week a 40 ft. Container was delivered to the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville for the T.O.C. Foundation to store clothes, toys, etc. for Foster Children.

RODALE PARK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
The Rodale Cycling Park - Allentown West Rotary Work Event is on Saturday- May 19, from 830-11am. We will be spreading mulch. Please sign up with Dennis Houser.

Pres. Mike introduced S-A-A Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected some “Guilty” dollars.
The door prize $10 donated by Tim Smith was won by Pres. Mike, who then donated it to thank the people that made TT4 a success.
The $48 pot of the 50:50 was NOT won by Dale Heffner’s ticket. Seven marbles remain.
Another drawing was made for a Paul Harris dish that went to Al Lewis.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Gwenn by a show of hands determined that 20 attendees had helped with TT4. So she had Gary put $20 in Mitch’s cup.
Mike Gschwendtner has been doing two territories of work since January. He is delighted to announce that our friend, David Sandoval, soon will take over one territory.
Geoff Legg is pleased to report that his Dr. daughter will be participating in a meeting on Health Care in the D.C. White House.
Dale Heffner said he just is Happy.
Dorothy Bloom thanks Gary and Gwenn for their hard work on TT4.

Joe Goll is happy to report that the new rook is on their Key West house -- and it survived some heavy rains.
Ralph Witcher says he is just Happy, and he is just Great! And he thanks Gary and Gwenn.
Herb Klotz is happy that David Haight will be inducted as an AW member on May 23rd. AND he is happy that today Hal Warner submitted his application for membership.

Al Lewis said that our TT events are wonderful and they had a marvelous time last Sunday.
Halyna Stegura recommended that we each put in a happy dollar in recognition of Gwenn and Gary’s leadership. We did.
PROGRAM:
Our program today was to be Jessica Elliot, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity. But 5 days ago Jessica gave birth to a daughter. So Camille Urbano ably filled in with the presentation.
Camille is the Corporate Development Manager. She began by saying how she has been laughing a lot and enjoying our meeting. Camille oversees their Volunteer program, heads up their Social Media work, and goes around educating groups about H for H.
Habitat Lehigh Valley is made up of a volunteer board of directors, a dedicated paid staff, volunteer leadership committees, hundreds of homebuilding volunteers and parents and children working together to secure homeownership for families who are in need of affordable, decent housing.
Stable, affordable housing is critical to education, health, and economic success across our area. Habitat’s unique homeownership program allows hardworking, low-income families to build and buy a home with 0%-interest mortgage after completing 250 sweat equity hours.
The owners work on their own house, or others, to put in their hours. They also must qualify for the resulting mortgage.
Camille showed a brief video describing H for H’s overview. And she said “Through shelter, we Empower.” The Habitat Lehigh Valley covers Lehigh and Northampton counties, and has been around for 30 years. They have built, or rehabilitated 115 homes so far. Right now they have seven homes underway. And another 4 are scheduled.
About 3 years ago they started a “ReStore” operation. This building holds all kinds of household items such as tools, paints, appliances, etc. that have been donated. They repair them and sell them at 60% to 80% discounts, with the earnings going to building new houses.
The ReStore also will accept Latex paints that are left over. They recombine them and create a 15 color selection for indoor use, and 3 for exterior.
HLV is a 501 ( C) 3 Foundation. They get funds from individual and corporate donors, fundraisers, and grants. Check out their website for ways to volunteer and donate. They actually function as the Bank that processes the mortgages.
