PDG Bob Hobaugh, Kutztown RC; Nick Millward, Peace Scholar calling in from Brisbane, Australia; Nick’s parents also were on.
PRE-MEETING CONVERSATIONS:
Ernie Boll had a sunset background from Arizona behind him this morning.
Tori Morgan noted that she was born in AZ. She also said she reviewed the Chamber of Commerce activity list and it is very large.
Bob Hobaugh and Nick Millward had a discussion about Peace fellowships and the new 7th Peace Center.
Nick’s fellowship is for 18 months. But he may stay another year to earn a dual Master’s degree.
Amir Famili was in San Francisco for their son’s great wedding. He also visited with their daughter who is 5 months pregnant. She is a lawyer for Facebook.
OPENING:
President Gail Micca started the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation.
Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S.
Nick Millward led us in the recitation of the Four-way Test, and added “Is it Fun?”

AWRC JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
Vice President to be President for the 2024-25 Rotary Year.
Four-way test Speech Contest Chair to run the one-time competition for out RC. We really want to support a student this year.
Foster Parents Breakfast one-time event chair. Without a lead Rotarian we may have to put this off unfortunately.
Dining Out Chair is needed. AW Rotarians have a history of going to local restaurants every month or so for supper and fellowship. We need a leader for this.
AWRC HOLIDAY PARTY:
Pres. Gail said that we are holding our annual Christmas party at Twin Lakes C.C. She showed a photo of the rehabbed area. The date is Friday, Dec. 2nd.
YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT:
Sam now is with the Blechschmidts. All of us should consider taking Sam to see our country. Please be sure that your Youth Protection status is current.
GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Our garden is giving us great produce to go to food pantries. Gail showed great photos of the recent produce harvested.
PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S.:
Saturday Sep 3 from 10 to 11 Karen and Gail collected more produce. About 125 lbs came from our garden.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD BANK:
Ralph Witcher and Ron Coleman need more help, folks! Please sign up for the next event on Sept. 10.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Amir Famili and his wife spent hours and collected 250 lbs of fresh produce from Pine Valley Farms spending only $85. They are good friends.
CASINO NIGHT:
The next committee meeting will be on Sept 12.
They have many great prizes to award.
Chair, Len Salines said they could use more items for the baskets of cheer. Please bring them to the Sept 14 In-Person meeting at Madeline’s.
We have $10,000 in major sponsors, but really need even more.
POTATO PROJECT HARVEST DATE:
PDG Bob Hobaugh said that the whole district sends volunteers to help the annual harvesting of potatoes on Sept 24 from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. About 200,000 lbs will be donated to food pantries.
GIVE & GROW FUNDRAISER:
Katrina Sundstrom asked for support of this fundraiser at Eight Oaks Distillery on Sept.24 from 2 PM. There will be a cornhole tournament, and a silent auction too.
POLIO ERADICATION RUN / WALK:
The Lehigh Valley Passport RC is managing this district event which will be on October 15th.
9/11 HEROES RUN:
This will be on Sept 25 at Parkland H.S. Race starts at 2 P.M. Come early.
MULTI-CLUB MEMBERSHIP EVENT:
“Conversations Over Cornhole”, will happen on October 19th. It will be a cornhole tournament and get-together in Center Valley at the Stone Fam Cellars and Vineyards from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M.
POLIO ERADICATION:
There will be non-competitive walks, runs and bike trips “On The Trails” in the Reading area. The Pottstown RC is managing the day. Registration is $40, and includes a lunch.
CLUBRUNNER SOFTWARE TRAINING:
Gwenn Carr said that a survey of the district showed a large interest in learning how ClubRunner software works and what it does. There will be a beginners training webinar soon, with other’s in January and the Spring.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EVENTS:
Tori Morgan will provide weekly updates on the C of C many events in which AW Rotarians might participate.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Karen Rodgers said that their daughter is doing well.
Marlene Heller is happy that her Grand Nephew is still OK with Kindergarten even though on the first day they had an emergency lock down.
Tori Morgan is happy that their daughter Jillian will sit for her exam to complete her work to become an Operating Room Nurse at LV Hospital.
Ernie Boll still is happy.

PROGRAM:
Nick Millward, noting this is the third program about Mongolia, introduced Bolormaa Tumurbat, COO at Lantuun Dohio , and Bajy Enkhibold the Public Affairs Assistant, whose topic is: United Against Child Abuse and Human Trafficking in Mongolia. They are in Washington, D.C.
As a Chief Operating Officer for Lantuun Dohio, Bolor is responsible for managing the operations and financial strategy for Lantuun Dohio USA. As a member of the management team, she oversees financial planning, budgeting, operations, and cash flow projections.
She started working for Lantuun Dohio in 2016, and her prior experience includes working in both nonprofit and profit sectors focusing on finding efficiencies in financial reporting, maintaining effective internal controls, and contributing to the development of systems and streamlining of work practices.
Bolor holds an MBA degree from Marymount University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University – Idaho. She is also a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in Virginia.

While it is not easy to determine the magnitude of Child Abuse and Neglect in Mongolia, it is substantial. According to UNICEF, violence against Mongolian children remains extremely high, with 47% of children aged 1-14 having experienced violent disciplines. That’s almost one out of two children reported experiencing some form of child abuse or neglect during their childhood.
However, the official cases only tell a part of the story, as many (if not most) incidents are never reported to social services agencies or law enforcements. Without intervention, these children are more susceptible to become victims of violence, neglect, human trafficking, or even abusers themselves. That’s why Lantuun Dohio was established.
The Ger district (Mongolian: гэр хороолол, ger khoroolol) is a form of residential district in Mongolian settlements. They usually consist of parcels with one or more detached houses or gers (hence the name), surrounded by two-metre high wooden fences. In other countries, gers are known as yurts.

They are building the third Help Center now, and have a place for a fourth Center when funds are available.
