President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Ron Coleman gave a very nice invocation.
Pres. Mike began the meeting having the members recite the Five-way Test with the fifth question, “Is it Fun?” We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the U.S.

TEMPTING TASTES 4 UPDATE:
Gwenn Carr said that there are info sheets on each table, and we have signed up some very nice new restaurants. Gwenn also says see temptingtastes4.net and consider giving tickets as Christmas gifts.
NEW COMMUNITY PROJECT IDEAS WANTED:
Pres. Mike said that we have some uncommitted funds this year, and the board is open to new ideas for doing some good works.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PARTY:
December 3rd, Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, a Buffet with a cash bar, at Bravo Cucina Italiana at the Lehigh Valley Mall.
The luncheon will have 2 choices of salads served family style, sides, pasta course and entrée buffet style and chocolate cake or cheesecake for dessert served tableside. It also includes all soda, coffee and /decaf and tea.

LUTHER CREST TRI-CEES CONCERT:
The Club funded concert of the Tri-Cees at Luther Crest will be on Monday, Dec. 11 starting at 7:00 PM. AWRC members are invited to attend.

PROGRAM:
Our program today was Carrie Reed Ballek about the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in our Community. Carrie has 3 children ages 9, 8 and 2. She volunteers at the Library and told of some children whom she led through learning about a dictionary. She understands why we give out dictionaries.
Carrie is the Regent of the Liberty Bell Chapter of the DAR in Allentown. The DAR is a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' efforts towards independence.
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.
DAR members volunteer millions of service hours annually in their local communities including supporting active duty military personnel and assisting veteran patients, awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships and financial aid each year to students, and supporting schools for underserved children with annual donations exceeding one million dollars.
As one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country, DAR boasts 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally. Any woman 18 years or older-regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background-who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.
Encompassing an entire downtown city block, DAR National Headquarters houses one of the nation's premier genealogical libraries, one of the foremost collections of pre-industrial American decorative arts, Washington's largest concert hall, and an extensive collection of early American manuscripts and imprints.
Carrie mentioned one significant DAR project was the restoration of the many special routes that our ancestors traveled across the country. One example is the Santa Fe Trail. She described many other DAR activities of support such as during WWI and WWII. She showed an excellent video overview.
Carrie told of the Liberty Bell Museum started in Allentown in 1962 with a 7 ft. tall plaque. She told of finding and preserving many burial sites of persons who fought in the Revolutionary War. There are over 500 marked graves in the Lehigh Valley.
The Liberty Bell Church goes back to 1773. This and other Allentown sites are in need of restoration. Check out the DAR website.
