GUESTS:
Jim Palmquist, Emmaus RC; Phillip St. James, guest of Hal Warner.

Pres. Mike  showed pictures starting with Bob Gordon who conducted the drawings last week and took the marbles. Then there was Sarah, last week’s speaker, and the last snack packing at Northwestern for the school year.

HABITAT for HUMANITY PLAN:

NEXT  WEEK:
Our Greeter will be Jean Masiko. And our program will be our annual Changeover ceremony.

Pres. Mike introduced  S-a-A Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected some “guilty” fines. Gary forgot his pin.

The TWO door prize special floral creations donated by Gwenn Carr and Gary Englehardt were won by Dale Heffner and Jean Masiko.
Although Jeanne Shipe told us that Bob Gordon had entrusted her with the bag of marbles, Jeanne forgot to bring them today. So no 50:50 drawing was held.

HAPPY  DOLLARS:
Mitch pointed out that Ron Coleman is setting new guidelines on shirts for Rotary meetings this Summer.

With some encouragement, Dan Crane told a joke about the long-faced horse in a Bar.

Dale Heffner is happy that he and Becky will be visiting family in Alaska soon.

Ron Coleman noted that there will be an event at Willow Brook Farms on June 30th and July 1st.

Len Salines shared with us a nice saying that he recently heard: “Life is about using every crayon in the box.”

Geoff Legg told a joke about catching fish with dynamite.

Jeanne Shipe is happy about her new marble collection.

Herb Klotz is happy that Ronnee and he are going to the RI annual Convention in Toronto this weekend.

PROGRAM:
Our program today was Sandy Stober discussing the “Connection Practice.” P-E Jeanne Shipe introduced Sandy and her husband, Rick. Sandy is a retired Teacher, and previously worked for Chevron and has traveled to other countries including Angola.

Sandy and Rick went to Costa Rica in 2007 and attended training all about the “Connections Practice.” (CP). Rita Marie Johnson of Costa Rica is the founder and has written a book about CP.

Sandy started out by explaining that the principles and ideas from CP apply to retired people as well as to employed folks. We all can benefit. Then using a series of slides she provided some details that are part of what can be a 4 day course, or a 3 weekend course. Also they conduct one-on-one sessions and webinar training.

Using Gary and Ron’s explanations it was determined that Isolation is unhealthy, and being connected has the benefits of networking and efficiency. We all have a need to be connected somehow.

Sandy discussed “Empathy” and “Insight” and their synergistic effects for personal and professional growth. We need connections in business and social settings as a way of dealing with one another. We need to have relief from negative events and to resolve conflicts.

The CP training emphasizes “Insight” or intuition and understanding to improve connections. Our brains constantly supply information we can use. And we want to build and sustain resilience.

Sandy says that we each have an electro-magnetic field that radiates at least 6 feet away and can influence how others in a close group are feeling.

Sandy took some questions and received a round of applause.

CLOSING:
We closed our meeting by reciting the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
