Today was an In-Person meeting at Madeline’s Restaurant in Fogelsville. There were 19 of us in person and 10 more on Zoom.
Our Greeter was Helen Papathanasiou . Treasurer Chris Blechschmidt handled the Registration, the 50-50 and the Happy Dollars.

OPENING:
Pres. Gail Micca at 7:30 rang the bell and started the meeting.
Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
Then Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:
Scholarship Comm. Chair, Dr. Barbara Kistler, presented Ryan McDonnell, Northwestern Lehigh High School a $1,000 scholarship check, since he could not attend last week. He also received a Kindle, thanks to Amazon.com. Pres. Gail gave him a bag of goodies.
Jennifer Holman said Ryan is an incredible person.

PDG Herb Klotz presented a PHF +1 to Tom Friday.
CELEBRATIONS:
Pres. Gail displayed the list of May member celebration events.
It is a Trifecta today, with Gail Micca, John Scott, and Katrina Sundstrom each celebrating their birthday.

R.Y.L.A CAMP NEIDIG:
The Camp Neidig Registration Site is now officially open! Our 2022 Camp Neidig Youth Leadership Program will be held June 17th- June 20th at Camp Manatawny. All forms are available on that website https://www.campneidig.com/forms--registration.html.
If appropriate, PLEASE download the Neidig Chairperson packet as it has all the necessary registration instructions.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for students to attend camp.
AW Rotarians are needed to volunteer for this weekend.

About the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
Established by Congress in 1939 under title 14, §§ 23 of the U.S. Code, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is Semper Paratus(Always Ready). We invite you to explore our site and learn more about who we are and what we do to be "Semper Paratus."
The Auxiliary has units in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam. Under the direct authority of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security via the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Auxiliary's internally operating levels are broken down into four organizational levels: Flotilla, Division, District and National.
The C.G. Auxiliary is 21 thousand members serving our nation and our communities in 793 local units. They contribute 3.8 million hours per year in support of the U.S. Coast Guard, including in the classroom, at the ramp & pier, and operating 1,800 vessel, 160 aircraft and 1,400 radio facilities.

The Mission of the C.G. Auxiliary is:
To promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety
To provide trained crews and facilities to augment the Coast Guard and enhance safety and security of our ports, waterways, and coastal regions
To support Coast Guard operational, administrative, and logistical Requirements
The Auxiliary operates in:
Safety and Security Patrols
Search and Rescue
Mass Casualty or Disasters
Pollution Response & Patrols
Homeland Security
Recreational Boating Safety
Commercial Fishing and Vessel Exams
Platforms for Boarding Parties
Recruit for all service in the Coast Guard
The Auxiliary group is all volunteer and they are not paid. Most of the time they work days and are home afterwards.
Jim said that there are lots of jobs in the Coast Guard, and that all are open to women. You must be at least 17 years old, be a U.S. citizen, and pass a background check in order to join.
Jim emphasized that the Coast Guard is the oldest, continuous branch of the six Military Academies.
Jim noted that the Auxiliary members are not to carry weapons and cannot arrest violators. But they do receive weapons training, and usually travel with regular Coast Guard ships.
