Our Greeter today was Gary Heller and he did a marvelous job. Then he took all of the below photographs.
President Amir Famili rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting and welcomed all. Then Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation including a special mention for Ronnee Klotz and Bill Weber.
Secretary John Scott began the meeting by having the members recite The Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag. Then he led us in reciting the Four Way Test. John also reviewed some of the upcoming

HOLIDAY PARTY:

LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Pres. Amir said that guest Justin Schell and others distributed produce last Saturday.
This great group still depends on cash donations from AW Rotarians. And volunteering for the produce pick-up and distribution on Saturday mornings is a very satisfying thing.
TEMPTING TASTES 6 MEETING:
Chair, Len Salines, said that there will be a planning meeting at the Holiday Inn this Friday morning.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH:
Grace Smith received the AWRC Student of the Month award in a ceremony conducted by Jeff Kistler. See separate article. After thanking us, Grace described the Travis Manion Foundation. Dr. Sandt said some nice things about Grace and her leadership.
Pres. Amir introduced Sgt.-at-Arms Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected Happy Dollars.
The door prize bottle of wine donated by Gary Heller was won by Chuck Ehninger.
The $84 pot of the 50:50 was not won by Chris Blechschmidt’s ticket being drawn followed by a white marble. Five marbles will be back next time.
HAPPY DOLLARS
John Scott is happy to see the beautiful snow this morning.
Gail Micca is happy that so many neighbors helped out with donations for a homeless family.
Bill Palmer is happy that we had such a great party last Friday. AND is most happy that Dec. 7 has passed and the TV no longer is saturated with Medicare commercials.
Jeff Kistler said that Barbara and he really enjoyed the Holiday Party.
Jeff also noted that once again Dictionaries have been donated to the Northeast Bradford Elementary School, and he passed around some Thank You letters.
Ron Coleman was happy for Grace Smith and her “positivity.”
Chuck Ehninger thanked Amir, and his wife, for the great Holiday Party.
Al Lewis loved the Holiday Party. And he noted that snow in the Adirondacks is more powdery and more plentiful than here.
Geoff Legg believes that the “Happy one dollars” should be increased to “Happy 5 dollars”, especially for those over 60 years old. There was no applause.
Mitch Huston noted that the Muhlenberg football team is doing well.
PROGRAM:
Secretary John Scott introduced Hannah Milagio who is the Grant Evaluation Manager for the Community Bike Works. A few years ago AW Rotarians began donating funds to them.
Community Bike Works teaches life lessons through bicycles to the young people of Allentown and the Lehigh Valley who could benefit most. ... In Earn a Bike, students learn bike mechanics and safety while practicing reading, writing, teamwork and work ethic skills.
Hannah thanked AW Rotarians for our support and for inviting her here today. She told the story using a series of slides.
CBW provides “Life lessons through bicycles” There are 4 major programs:

College, Careers & Community
Hannah explained about “Bikes & Books: Junior Earn a Bike program.
Hannah noted that over their 25 years so far most participants are boys. But 3 years ago they started a Special Project: Girls’ Night Earn a Bike that is growing.
Bikes & Books: Earn a Book. Students at the end of class earn their refurbished bicycle and a new helmet. Other programs include Earn a Book, Afternoon Drop-in, and Youth Leadership. They also offer a range of cycling programs, including recreational rides, road riding, track cycling, and mountain biking.
The program Outcomes are:---
500 students in youth bike mentoring each year
90%+ students complete Earn a Bike & JrEAB to earn their bike and a new helmet
100% of students completing the program demonstrate bike repair and safety skills
85% of students self-report they are more active and better communicators
72% of students at a United Way community school improved their school attendance
Hannah described their Cycling Programs that takes students who have earned a bike onto bike trails, short and flat to start. They get longer over time even to 35 miles.
Hannah discussed Creating & Connecting: Drop-in, College, Careers & Community: Youth Leadership, College, Careers & Community: Youth Bike Summit, and Deep Mentoring: Gaining Traction.
