Today was a face-to-face meeting where AW Rotarians had a breakfast together. We also had a Zoom meeting. There were 19 people at the Starlite Diner and we had 7 people on line that participated in the meeting remotely.
Michelle Steiner was our Greeter and she did an excellent job. And President Gail Micca was everywhere else looking after us. Mitch Huston handled registration and 50:50 tickets, and Happy Dollars. Ralph Witcher made sure that the P.A. system and the Zoom signals worked for us.

OPENING:
Pres. Gail Micca rang the bell and welcomed us all.
Ralph Witcher gave a very nice invocation.
After some time to chat and eat, Pres. Gail had us recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S. Then Pres. Gail led us in the recitation of the Four Way Test to which we added “Is it fun?”
AWRC HISTORY STORY:
PDG Bill Weber delivered today’s story about an early member, Rudy Mohr and Mohr Orchards.
CELEBRATIONS:
Pres. Gail displayed the list of October member events. And she noted Bill Palmer’s birthday on Monday and the group sang Happy Birthday.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Pres. Gail thanked Amir Famili for his continued good work getting produce for them.
GARDEN CARE:
Pres. Gail again expressed delight that 20 Parkland Interact students did such great work.
DICTIONARY PROJECT FUTURE:
Kathy Ott reports that the talks with the schools will continue. They seem to be heading for a books for pre-school children program.
FAMILY PROMISE:
Kathy Ott said that we are seeking at least 20 gift cards for gasoline for these people who used to go by bus. Contact Kathy with your donations.
PEDIATRIC CANCER ASSOCIATION:
Kathy also noted that this group needs our financial support.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
The next distribution will be on November 20th.
AFGHAN REFUGEE INFO & DINING OUT:
Amir Famili said that 28 Rotarians attended this event last week and it was a great success.
Amir said that the Leigh Valley Refugee Center is looking for two 17-19 size bikes for Afghan refugees. One bike for a male and the other for a female. Please, let Amir know if you have these bikes and are willing to donate to the Refugee Center.
CASINO NIGHT AT THE WHEELS MUSEUM:
The date has moved out to January 29th. Details were distributed at today’s meeting. Chair, Len Salines, said that we need to sign up sponsors, hopefully by Thanksgiving. Also we learned that Jeff Steiner is a trained blackjack dealer.
PIE CRIMPING CHALLENGE:
Due to a machine failure, Stephanie Fenstermacher of The Buttered Crumb, now must crimp the edges of her pies by hand. She is offering a donation of $0.75 to AWRC for each pie our volunteers crimp. She really needs our help.
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY:
Saturday, December 11 will be our annual holiday party at Brookside Country Club in Macungie. A sign-up list is available now with 3 food options.

HAPPY DOLLARS & PRIZES:
Sgt-at-Arms Mitch Huston had a ticket drawn for the $1o door prize donated by Michelle Steiner and Herb Klotz was the winner. The $10 prize of the 50:50 was won by Chuck Ehninger.
Chuck Ehninger donated Ten Happy Dollars.
Ralph Witcher is happy for Bill Palmer still having birthdays.
Mitch Huston reminded Bill that his practice is to donate a Happy Dollar for each year.
Chris Blechschmidt’s H.S. Senior daughter’s soccer team won the Colonial League and now is in the playoffs.
Ralph Witcher is happy that their son, Solomon came home for a visit, and then is off to Germany.
Kathy Ott’s son is a Track coach at Parkland H.S. and they won their division.
Ron Coleman is happy that his daughter now is pregnant with his 4th grandchild --not all from her.
Sue Weber is happy that the Youth Exchange program will be working this year. We have at least two to go out, and one incoming for us to look after.
Herb Klotz is happy about Bill Palmer’s birthday.
Herb noted that as Membership Chair he tracks statistics. In the Rotary world about 87% of new members said that they joined because they were asked! So ASK.
BJ Metz expressed greetings from the Easton RC members. He also noted that the room is “littered” with Past District Governors.
Murtaza Jaffer noted that all of the bald members are sitting together. And he is happy that BJ is here today. He also is happy that Lisa Walton is a friend.
Gail Micca is happy that Lisa Walton now is a member. They have known each other for 11 years.
Mitch Huston is happy that he went to York Beach, ME, as part of a large family reunion. Members flew in from all over.
STATUS OF MORNING MEETINGS:
The first and third Wednesday meetings in October thru December will be via Zoom. The second and fourth will be in-person at the Starlite Diner.

PROGRAM:
Pres. Gail Micca introduced Lisa Walton, Engineering Sales (Retired) to give her Classification Talk.
Did you think that Lisa Walton would give her classification talk without beautiful flower arrangements for sale? All $$ go to fund scholarships.
Lisa was born on Long Island in 1965 and has two older, and one younger brother. Lisa moved 5 times before college, and ended up in Kalamazoo, MI.
Fun Fact: Lisa lived for 2 years in Wescosville in the 70’s and attend the same church!
For College she attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, AND was a double Major and earned a BA in History and was an Honors Scholar as well.
At college Lisa’s activities include yearbook, marching band, choir, and local sorority, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Alpha Theta.
Another Fun Fact: Her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law are all Valparaiso University grads (!!)
Her initial work life was with United Engineers & Constructors as a Mechanical Engineer working on Fossil Plant Modifications.
Fun Fact: When she was first hired, for a week, she shared a phone with the engineer in the cube next to hers. They were married 3 years later.
Lisa’s next work life was raising kids and being a Sales Engineer for –Kriebel Engineered Equipment, Anchor Pump and Engineered Equipment. She quit (ok, retired) in August 2019. She then Completed an AIFD Floral Design program this Fall 2021.
