Today our meeting was at LCTI in Schnecksville.
President Jeanne Shipe rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. And Rev. Jeff Kistler gave a very nice invocation.
We enjoyed a very delicious breakfast prepared by the LCTI Culinary students for us.
Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite the 4 Way test, followed with our saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A. Then
Pres. Jeanne welcomed us all to LCTI and thanked them for hosting today’s meeting.
GUESTS:
Andrea, our Youth Exchange student from Croatia; Hilda Lewis, wife of Al; and NANCY ESKANDER our Student of the Month.
Pres. Jeanne showed some pictures including Gary Heller, last week’s speaker, and the Webers’ farm. And there was one of the Dictionary distribution.
KRISPY KREME SALE:
The Northwestern Interact students again are selling KK donuts as a fundraiser. Money was collected today.
Barbara Kistler read a nice Thank You letter sent to AW Rotarians for our support at the Miracle League Halloween Party.
KINGDOM LIFE DATE CHANGES:
We are changing the date for stocking shelves at Kingdom Life Family Center Food Bank for the next two months, November and December to the second Friday of the month.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:

DICTIONARY PROJECT:
P-E Amir Famili said that dictionary distribution will take place on Fri 11-16 at Weisenberg Twsp. Elementary, and on Mon 11-19 at Salisbury Twsp Truman elementary. And Sue Weber is doing it at Parkland.
THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be TOMORROW, November 8th at 5:30 PM at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville. PDG Mike McCarthy will discuss the RI Foundation.
RI FOUNDATION REPORT:
Barbara Kistler, our Foundation Chair reminds us that NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH !
Barb then presented nifty blue Piggy Banks to Andy Drotar and Gail Micca, two of our newer members.
During the month of November we will be matching every dollar given by members with either points or treasury dollars getting you ever closer to a coveted Paul Harris Fellow award.
We encourage every member to give what they can; those giving $100 or more this fiscal year will be given a Rotary sticker for their badge.
AWRC OPEN HOUSE MEETING -- NEXT WEEK is our regular Luther Crest meeting on November 14th. There will be a special format to inform our guests about Rotary and what we do. Please bring a guest.
PAUL HARRIS RECOGNITION AWARDS:
On Nov 21st we will recognize our AW Rotarians who have reached another level in donations to the RI Annual Fund.
ANNUAL FOUNDATION SEMINAR is on November 10th at MONTCO CC in Blue Bell. Grant Training and certification will be conducted after lunch. Register on-line with EventBrite.

AWRC ANNUAL SERVICE AWARD:
Chair Chuck Ehninger announced that a winner has been selected, Michelle from LCCC. The award will be made at our December 5th regular Wednesday meeting.
VOTING for NEXT YEAR’S OFFICERS:
At our Dec 12th morning meeting we will be voting for AW officers for the 2019-2020 RY.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH:
Nancy Eskander was honored at this meeting as the AWRC Student of the Month of November. Rev. Jeff Kistler conducted the award ceremony. Nancy was joined for the presentation by her mother, Sue Awad, and by Ellen Reichling, LCTI Faculty, and Dr. Mark Covelle, Principal of the Academic Center
Dr. Covelle said some nice things about Nancy. Then Nancy thanked AW Rotarians for the recognition and the award. See separate article.
PROGRAM:
LCTI) is one of the largest career and technical institutes in the United States. It serves the ten public high schools in the Lehigh Valley.
LCTI offers more than 50 programs in a hands-on format, with a focus on national skill standards and rigorous academics. LCTI recently completed a modernization project that has increased lab sizes, updated equipment, and added an Academic Center.
Three LCTI Faculty took turns explaining the school’s programs and recent changes. They were Director of Career & Technical Education: Kurt Adam, Director of Academic & Special Programs: Grace Loeffler, and Director of Curriculum & Instruction: Dr. Lisa Greenawalt.
LCTI has a variety of programs offered to all of its students, and also offers an academic option. They hope to attract more students into the Health Care field. They are working on an Exercise School with a Rehabilitation program.
They explained the things that a student does during a typical week. They described a position of a Medical Scribe, where a person is trained to go around with a Doctor and records everything important. They emphasized that the Dental Health Care program is working well and needs no changes right now.
The Faculty took turns answering questions from the audience. Pres. Jeanne again thanked all the LCTI people for today.
CORRECTION:
The information on Gary Heller Photography in the recent newsletter was incorrect, and referenced a different Gary Heller than the one who presented at our October 31 meeting. Following is the correct information.
Gary Heller currently specializes in photography of historic buildings, with the goal of providing high quality images to historical societies for their use in preserving the buildings for education, research, and preservation. His website, www.historicrescue.com, highlights his photos of historic buildings in Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
This is Gary’s retirement project; he has been a photographer for many years, with his photographs appearing in annual reports, greeting cards, calendars, on billboards, in news reports and many other venues. Gary also shoots many live events, such as press events, and galas.
