THE WORLD NEEDS MORE ROTARIANS

Make it your business to share your Rotary story! When you meet someone who isn't aware of all Rotary has to offer personally, professionally, and to the world, it's an opportunity. Let them know you are one of the 1.4 million people in the world who make the world better by serving the community.

Offer them the chance to join us for an activity or a meeting to learn more. If you don't ask, they won't know! Be a Rotary Ambassador!

ANNUAL CHANGEOVER

______________________

DID YOU KNOW?

Rotary’s first fiscal year began the day after the first convention ended, on 18 August 1910. The 1911-12 fiscal year also related to the convention, beginning with the first day of the 1911 convention on 21 August.

Attendees at Rotary’s first convention in Chicago in 1910. Rotary’s first fiscal year began the day after the convention ended.

The next August, the Board of Directors ordered an audit of the International Association of Rotary Clubs’ finances. The auditors recommended that the organization end its fiscal year on 30 June to give the secretary and treasurer time to prepare a financial statement for the convention and board, and to determine the proper number of club delegates to the convention.

STEM YEA 2023 Update

image

Please join us as a volunteer!

We are looking forward to working with more than 40 students at this year’s STEM YEA event. Please join Peter Wohlsen and Ron Coleman who will be directing parents and students in the parking lot. Diana Dunn will be working in the sessions with the students assisting students as they build their rovers, landers, and helicopters needed while they are visiting Mars.

No clearances are needed if you will be working with the students during the daytime activities. If you have an interest in astronomy don’t miss this chance to learn from our astronomy groups. They are bringing their equipment to help everyone see what’s visible in the night skies on Thursday, July 6th, and Saturday, July 8th.

Please contact Gary or Gwenn for more information.

MONGOLIAN 21 / 21 UPDATE

There is great news regarding the Mongolia 21|21 project. To date, we have raised $7,500 for the project. We have developed a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding between Friends of Mongolia (FOM) and AWRC. A Board of Directors and a draft list of Roles and Responsibilities have been established.

We have been in contact with the Oakdale and Marblehead Massachusetts Rotary Clubs to tell them of our success. Gary connected with Undram Nyaman, who is the Treasurer of FOM to begin discussing the process for transferring funds.

Nick is in Mongolia this week making more contacts and describing the project to potential partners.
