Today was a face-to-face meeting where 18 AW Rotarians and guests had a breakfast together. There was no Zoom option.
Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, there was no program today. President Gail Micca asked folks to just spend time enjoying some conversations.
Pres. Gail summarized the meeting as:
It was so nice to enjoy some much needed fellowship today. Kathleen Ott offered a thoughtful invocation. Gary Englehardt shared an interesting “History Story” about foundation grants.
And we even had some happy dollars:
Geoff Legg was very happy to announce his granddaughter has received a substantial university scholarship.
Scott Hoch was happy to have a friend (Ron) wrapped in money.
Andy Drotar was happy to contribute to Casino Night fun.
Ralph Witcher is happy that Gail is traveling to ND to visit her parents so he can lead the December 8th meeting!
One of our newest members, Debbie Jack, joined us today. Our guests were PDG BJ Metz from the Easton club, and Alicia Ruiz Orbin from the Emmaus Club. Everyone was able to order from the regular menu which was a treat.
Andy Drotar showed us how to fold a dollar into a bow tie for Casino Night fun and Ron Coleman came dressed and ready to hit the road to find more Casino Night Sponsors.
CASINO NIGHT:
The next two to three weeks are crucial in lining up our Casino Night sponsors. Several more sponsor folders were taken to share. Let Gail know if you can help with that.
One bottle of wine was collected today, so next time we meet on December 8th, let’s fill the trunk!
AWRC MEETING VENUE CHANGE:
Beginning in January, 2022 the club voted unanimously to hold our meetings at the Parkland Community Library on Walbert Avenue. We will need a small hospitality team. So if you’d like to help, let Gail or Debbie Jack know.
Everyone agreed we should do more of this, so maybe we can have a fellowship breakfast again on December 29th if there is interest. Please tell Gail if you would like that.

KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
November 20th. was a distribution day and Tori Morgan and Ralph Witcher were there to help Jean Masiko and their group.
PIE CRIMPING PROJECT:
The pie crimping was a great success. we crimped 200 pie crusts together at The Buttered Crumb and it was great fun. We look forward to doing more of this if Stephanie will have us back. $200 was donated from The Buttered Crumb - Thank you Steph!
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY:
The holiday party numbers need to be confirmed this week. So if you've been on the fence, hop over and join us! We have 36 confirmed attendees to date.
MEMBERSHIP MINUTE:
On Dec 1, 2021 starting at 7:00 PM there will be a Zoom conversation with all new members. Everyone is invited, but the focus will be on “getting started and involved” with the Allentown-West Rotary Club.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2022 DEADLINE:
Pres. Gail reminds us that we must register for the Hershey conference by Dec 1st in order to get the discount.
VOLUNTEERS AT THE ZOO:
Volunteer Night at the LV Zoo is Thursday, December 2 from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
