Our Greeter today was Dorothy Bloom and she did a marvelous job.
President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Sue Weber gave a very nice invocation with special mention of the Guatemala earthquake victims.
Pres. Mike began the meeting having the members recite the Five-way Test with the fifth question, “Is it Fun?” We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.

Pres. Mike showed pictures starting with our volunteers last Friday at Kingdom Life Food Pantry. Then we saw the Youth Exchange students at Lake Nockamixon for their annual picnic. The sailing was not done because of high winds.

YOUTH EXCHANGE 2018-19:
Sue Weber reported that we may not have a student assigned to our RC next Rotary year. Northwestern SD age rules intervened.

AWRC OPINION SURVEY:
P-E Jeanne Shipe still seeks members’ opinions on what changes in our operations might be appropriate.

Foundation Chair, John Scott, reminds us that we are $3,000 short of our 2017-18 Goal for the RI Foundation’s Annual Fund. NOW is the time to get our donations in.

Friday June 29th is Dining Out at the Shanty Restaurant in Allentown at 6:00 P.M. There is a sign-up sheet.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:
VP Amir Famili next week will circulate a sign-up sheet for volunteers to go and work on a project sometime in August.

S-a-A Mitch stayed away from Ron Coleman because of last week’s extra black marble. So what happened? Ron’s ticket was drawn for the 50:50 pot of $81. Guess what happened? Ron won the money!
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Geoff Legg told a FISH story about Mitch and Mitch’s bucket of 32 fish that always returned. What Fish??!
Jeanne Shipe during her visit with family in Ohio last week took the time to visit two Rotary clubs.
Joe Goll is celebrating his 65th birthday tomorrow. He says he is ready for Medicare.
Dorothy Bloom thanks AW members for the Meals on Wheels donation. And she had another great time with her 6 and 10 year old grandkids. Also she honors the memory of Rick’s Father who passed away a week ago.
Ron Coleman told of the happy ending when he pulled his 2-1/2 year old granddaughter from the swimming pool after she fell in.
Sue Weber is happy to see that Tim Smith is back.
PROGRAM:
Our program today was Allen Childs, President of the Doylestown Rotary Club, discussing our possible financial support of a Global Grant now being put together. Allen’s Father was a member of the Easton RC, and Allen was an exchange student to Germany.
Allen noted that 3 years ago the Doylestown RC worked with us on the Sierra Leone Centennial School grant.
Carol Ferguson is a Doylestown RC member, is a Polio survivor, and is our D7430 Polio Plus subcommittee Chair. Their RC on October 6, 2018 will conduct a SECOND 2018 Purple Pinkie 5K Race to have members farther south in the district participate.
The proposed Global Grant is to address a serious healthcare need in the Four Corners area containing over 250,000 Navajo and about 6,000 Zuni Pueblo Indians. The focus of the project is working with the Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services, with their Main Hospital In Gallup, NM.
The hospital has a $200,000 grant to buy the RV for a mobile hospital. The Global Grant portion is to fund an X-Ray machine at $48,000 and a $30,000 Ultrasound machine. Doylestown Rotarians have committed $6,000. The Association of Native Americans has raised $15,000 and some RCs have each committed $5,000, including the Gallup NM RC.
Part of the problem is the terrible road conditions in that area. Patients have to drive over 150 miles to get medical services -- so they just don’t go. And the life styles on the reservations have resulted in twice the rate of Diabetes cases, and a 4 year shorter than average life span. And alcoholism is a broad problem too. Over 40% of those living in Kinneytown live below the poverty level.
Allen noted that we still are looking for some International RCs to partner with to make this Global Grant viable. He hopes that AWRC members will financially support this project. The plan is to have the mobile hospital in service by December 2018.
