Today was an in-person meeting at Madeline’s in Fogelsville. There were 27 of us present, and 9 more on line.

President Gail Micca rang the bell and started the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation with special mention of the passing of Hilda Lewis, Al’s wife. There will be a service on September 16, at 11:00 A.M.
Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S.
Pres. Gail led us in the recitation of the Four-way Test, and added “Is it Fun?”

Their food pantry work day has changed from Saturdays to Tuesday evenings.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD BANK:
Ron Coleman was the only AW Rotarian that helped distribute on Saturday, August 13th.

CASINO NIGHT:
Printed ad business cards were handed out by Gail today, along with other materials.
POLIO ERADICATION RUN / WALK:
The Lehigh Valley Passport RC is managing this district event which will be on October 15th.
MULTI-CLUB MEMBERSHIP EVENT:
“Conversations Over Cornhole”, will happen on October 19th. It will be a cornhole tournament and get-together in Center Valley at the Stone Fam Cellars and Vineyards.
AWRC JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

Tori Morgan had our guest speaker, Hannah, draw winning Door Prize tickets for five prizes, and then for her soap product.
The $20 prize of the 50-50 was won by Bill Palmer.

Our program will be Suvdaa Suvd, Dep. Dist Rotaract Rep-Mongolia, to discuss Impactful Programs: Mongolian Rotaract Community + RID 3450 making the Difference.
PROGRAM:
Pres. Gail introduced Gwenn Carr who using photos gave us a review of our first STEM-YEA 4-day program last July. There were 41 students that participated. They were busy all day and all evening as well.
Gwenn’s notes say:
Why is Rotary interested in STEM? Most of our projects require STEM. A small team of District Rotarians wanted to find a way to have more young people get involved in STEM to increase the number of students choosing STEM careers.
So a team of District 7430 Rotarians from 10 clubs worked together to create the District 7430 STEM Youth Explorer Academy. The inaugural event was held July 8-11, 2022 at Albright College. It was a three night, four day residential experience.
The 41 student participants outside the McMillan Center at Albright. This was shortly after they checked in to the event. In the upper right you see the students In their first activity together. We used the Science Field to “walk” to different planets. This was an activity to help students understand that distance between planets.
There was a pizza party complete with Karaoke and lots of dancing. That was one our final day. The students did not know each other before attending STEM YEA. You can see in the photos some of the bonding that took place. Students were nominated by their schools and sponsored by 21 Rotary Clubs throughout District 7430.
CAMP NEIDIG(RYLA) REPORT:
Nicole McGalla said that her son, Kai, attended, as did Gabrielle Gober -- both from Parkland schools.
Gabby and Kai each explained how amazing the weekend experience was. They described the training and learning activities that occurred. Both said they would do it again.
And both said they came on Friday afternoon and did not know anybody else of the 82 students. But when they parted on Monday evening everybody has lots of new friends.
They passed around copies of the “Yearbook” that they created over the weekend.

Nicole McGalla introduced our closing speaker, Hannah Laudermilch, Pres. & CEO at Red Wagon Soap to discuss How A Red Wagon Full Of Soap Is Making The Neighborhood Greener. She is a 12 year old Parkland student speaking about her work on the environment reducing the use of plastic containers.
Hannah explained that about 10% of plastics are recycled. The other 90% still is with us.
