Jeanne again projected a series of photos from last week and before in a continuous loop for our viewing as we ate breakfast.
Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite the 4 Way test, followed with our saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

KRISPY KREME SALE:
The Northwestern Interact students again are selling KK donuts as a fundraiser. For $8 you get a half dozen. Or just give money.
KINGDOM LIFE DATE CHANGES:
Jean Masiko reports that we are changing the date for stocking shelves at Kingdom Life Family Center Food Bank for the next two months, November and December to the second Friday of the month.

DICTIONARY PROJECT:
P-E Amir Famili hosted AW Rotarians on Sunday Oct 28th who pasted AWRC labels into 1,016 dictionaries. Almost all have been delivered to the schools.

RI FOUNDATION REPORT:
Barbara Kistler, our Foundation Chair reviewed the differences between the AWRC Operating funds, the AWRC Foundation, and the RI Annual Fund. The latter is the one that recognizes donations with Paul Harris Fellow awards.
The Matching Paul Harris “Recognition Points” program is being offered as incentives so more members obtain a Paul Harris Fellow award. You will receive one Point for each Dollar donated to the RI Annual Fund during the month of November 2018.
ANNUAL AWRC CHRISTMAS DINNER:
Dec. 7th – Friday - at Brookside CC in Macungie from 6 to 9 P.M. There will be great appetizers, a cash bar and a buffet dinner. Entertainment will be by Seth Witcher and his Guitar

Chair Chuck Ehninger announced that a winner has been selected, Michelle from LCCC. The award will be made in early December.

Len Salines says that he can’t wait until this election season is over!
Geoff Legg was away last weekend but there were no bulldozers in action to watch.
Dan Crane really is happy to be “esteemed.”
Jeff Kistler is doubly happy, once for his birthday tomorrow, AND with much gratitude for his daughter-in-law’s escape from almost dying last week from a cardiac event. She is recovering.
Halyna Stegura is happy about Bill Palmer’s surprise birthday party last Thursday evening. And she is pleased to learn that Bill’s recent DNA test shows he is 2.7% Ukraine.
Bill Weber was happily surprised this morning by a great Photo of the Weber farm buildings given to him by our speaker, Gary Heller.
Bill Palmer is happy that Barbara Kistler and her team held a surprise Birthday Party for him last Thursday evening at the Holiday Inn.
Sue Weber is happy to have Gary and Marlene Heller with us today.
Herb and Ronnee Klotz are happy that they traveled last week to Little Rock, AR and environs. Herb presented Pres. Jeanne with a banner from the RC of Bryant.
PROGRAM:
Sue Weber introduced our speaker for today. Gary Heller and his wife Marlene are neighbors of the Webers in Vera Cruz. She said that Gary started taking pictures at age 12. And at one time he co-owned a Photo studio in New York City. In 2016 Gary retired and then had time to pursue his passion of photographing historic buildings inside the “tourist ropes.”
Gary’s internet site says “The Gallery has Photographs of old barns and tractors, abandoned buildings and asylums, old doors and windows as well as vintage aircraft and pinup art.
Limited Rights Usage of my photographs for books, album/CD covers, advertising and other commercial/retail use can be obtained.”
Gary showed us many photos he has taken in recent years. In 2017 he started a new website. And while visiting an historic site he got the idea to make a deal with the folks who are preserving them. In exchange for letting him go beyond the tourist ropes, he let them have most of the rights to use his photos for fundraising and grant writing.
Gary discussed many pictures taken in Wisconsin where there are five preserved villages. Here is a typical photo taken by Gary in Wisconsin. It is the Ahner log house "Sunday Room" 1850.
In 1939 there was a nationwide survey done that included over 30,000 historic buildings. Since then about 10,000 of them have been destroyed or fallen apart. Thus Gary’s need to provide photographic records inside and outside.
