Our Greeter today was Mike Gschwendtner, and he did a marvelous job.
Past President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Pastor Jean Masiko gave a very nice invocation.
Mike began the meeting having the members recite the 4 way test, and then the Bob Gordon 5 way test. Then we recited the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag.

ROTARY LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:
On Saturday, October 20th there is an RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) training session at DeSales University. AWRC members will have their registration fees reimbursed after they attend. This is a great opportunity to learn all about Rotary.
HABITAT for HUMANITY WORK DAY:

PURPLE PINKIE IS COMINE:
October 13th at LCCC is the date for the 5K run and Fun walk to raise funds to eradicate the last few cases of Polio from the world.
John Scott reviewed the 4 areas of need to make this AWRC event successful for our District again this year:
1. Participants to run or walk should sign up on Herb’s list, or go to purplepinkie.net to register.
2. If some members will not Run or Walk, please volunteer to help control car traffic, race directions, food distribution, or registration on site. Randy Beitler is the contact.
3. Make pledges to sponsor folks who will be racing.
4. Donate gift cards which are a highlight of the event that we raffle off at the end. Jennifer Stinson is the contact.
DISTRICT 7430 FOUNDATION SEMINAR:
This annual RI Foundation Seminar is scheduled for Saturday November 10th at MONTCO CC in Blue Bell.

AWRC ANNUAL SERVICE AWARD NOMINATIONS:
Chair Chuck Ehninger still seeks nominations through Sep 30th. He has none so far.
DISTRICT 7430 GOVERNOR NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN:
All RCs now may nominate a candidate to serve as our District Governor for the Rotary Year 2021-22. Contact President Jeanne Shipe to make a nomination.
NEW AWRC BANNER DESIGN SOUGHT:
Pres. Jeanne is asking for suggestions for a new banner design. The best 3 will be reviewed by the board at the Sept 18th meeting. Then the club members pick the winner.
TT 5 COMMITTEE MEMBERS SOUGHT:
Now is the time to volunteer to work with Gwenn and Gary to learn and execute the many jobs associated with this great fundraising event.
RESTAURANT ADVERTISING NEEDED:
Gwenn Carr noted that we now have table-top signs identifying us as AW Rotarians to use when we eat out as a group.
We need twelve (12) or more Restaurants to support Tempting Tastes 5, and we only have 4 so far. AW Rotarians are asked to tell restaurants that they use that AW Rotarians are eating there.
THREADS OF CHANGE UPDATE:
They will hold a “distribution event” on Sunday September 16th in Leesport from 4 to 9 PM.. And they need a volunteer or two from AWRC to help, especially with a pickup truck or a large vehicle.
THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be September 13th at 5:30 P.M. at the former Holiday Inn in Breinigsville. The program is making plans for future evening programs.
FUTURE AWRC ROTARY DISTRICT GRANTS :
Please tell Pres. Jeanne and Barb Kistler your suggestions for 2019-20 District Grants. Those applications start going in soon.
NEXT MEETING -- September 12th -- Our Greeter will be Mustafa Jaffer, and the program will be PA State Senator Pat Browne with a legislative update.
Past Pres. Mike introduced S-a-A Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and picked up the Happy Dollars.
The door prize today was a Breakfast donated by Mike Gschwendtner, and it was won by Gwenn Carr.
The 50:50 pot of $43 was not won .by Jerry Frank whose ticket was drawn. Lots of marbles return.
HAPPY DOLLARS:

Dan Crane paid $2 to celebrate that we no longer impose fines.
Joe Goll is happy that Peggy just celebrated her First day of her Last year of teaching.
Suzanne Fischer is happy to part of our Rotary family.
Bill Weber told the story about knowing the cash flow at the local Drive-in Movie in the old days.
Gwenn Carr happily presented the club with a banner from the RC of Forked River, NJ.
Ernie Boll still is just plain happy.
Chuck Ehninger is doubly happy. He and Judy are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. AND they just found out that they will be first time Grandparents next March.
Ralph Witcher reminds us of the “BeeGees,” which he claims stands for the “Bob Gordon” Fan Club.
Dan Crane told the story of his getaway day when the highlight was watching a bulldozer doing what bulldozers do.
PROGRAM:
The program today was Gail Micca (for real)) giving her Classification Talk. She had rescheduled 4 times and she was, all smiles.
Gail started by explaining her current work in Sales for the last four years. She now works with a company “Impact Corporate Promotions” based in Atlanta. They sell promotional items and some samples were on our tables. Gail also referred to the Tee shirts and sweatshirts with AWRC on them that she did a few months back Her company does its own printing and embroidery.
Gail does not have to solicit customers herself. Her company does the initial calling and she then conducts follow-up meetings. Gail applies the Rotary 4-way test to all of her dealings. And she passes on her best price when quoting jobs.
She says this is a good job, but that she is more of a Community person, or a ”Helper.” She talked about how at age 9 she raised $300 for Muscular Dystrophy . She even got on TV. She ran two more fundraisers by the 12th grade.
Gail is a “Fargo” girl having lived in ND since age 3. Not having money for college, she went to Beauty School and worked in a beauty salon. Then she went to London, UK, her first time out of the country.
She spent time in New York City on the way home and decided that was the place to be. She got a job as a Nanny and did that for 18 months. During that time the Woman she worked for got her to go to Montclair State College Business School in NJ. She studied Phycology and Nutrition. After that she earned a Masters Degree in Social Work.
As part of her weight control plan she began riding her bike everywhere. She met her husband and they biked across the U.S. then in Fiji and New Zealand, covering about 16,000 miles. They got married in Hawaii on the way back. There are 3 Micca boys with the youngest being in H.S.
