PROGRAM:
Pres. Ralph Witcher introduced Kevin Clark by saying that he is smart and has a big brain. They have been friends for a while.
Kevin Clark is an award-winning business and brand strategist, serial author and alpine skier. He is Federation Leader & President of Content Evolution, CEO of Choiceflows Inc. and is Director emeritus for IBM Brand and Values Experience. Tens of billions of dollars in intangible and brand value have been created and managed by Kevin. He is a recurring pioneer and innovation catalyst. He advises leaders on the wants and needs of clients and customers at the intersection of emerging social and technology trends. Kevin holds several board positions both fiduciary and advisory.
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science Degree. And he has multiple certifications from Business Schools.
Kevin began by thanking us for the invitation to speak. He was calling in from Chapel Hill, NC. He noted that he did not ski this Winter because of the virus. And he congratulated Ralph with a “Happy Birthday.”
Then Kevin said that it is time to share an idea that has been under consideration for some time.
Here is Kevin’s Overview:
To be a great brand, you first have to be a great company… and to be a great company you not only have to think and say great things, you have to act on them aligned with your intentions. This is the difference between the phrase you’ve heard about “thought leadership” and what we will explore we’re calling “thoughtful leadership.” Thought leaders pronounce and exclaim. Thoughtful leaders listen, lead and act. Thoughtful leaders are catalysts for constructive and collaborative action for meaningful and purposeful change.
Kevin told of the ENRON behavior some years ago. Their management style was to take advantage of every vendor, client and employee to maximize profits. They were not missed when they failed.
So AW needs to be a Great RC in order to be a great brand. Our Core Values are critical. He said challenges facing leaders today are that everything is connected. He said “The changes change the changes.”
For these days we should offer “ThoughtFUL Leadership.” We must recognize complexities and consider possibilities, Embrace explorations, Listen……then lead with actions for mutual benefits.
Kevin answered some questions, and then Pres/ Ralph thanked Kevin for his fine presentation.
CLOSING:
Pres Ralph led us in the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
