Today was an In-Person meeting at Madeline’s in Fogelsville. There were 22 of us there face-to-face, plus 8 on line via zoom.
Our Greeter was Lisa Walton, and she did a great job. Treasurer Chris Blechschmidt handled the Registration. And Ron Coleman handled the Happy Dollars and the 50-50.

Pres. Gail Micca at 7:30 rang the bell and started the meeting.
Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation, with special mention of Kathy Ott, Dawn Costello and Al Lewis.
Then Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S. Gail then led us in the recitation of the Four Way Test to which we added “Is it fun?”

STEM-YEA UPDFATE:
Gwenn Carr reports that the STEM YEA team had a display table at the District Training Assembly on April 9, 2022. Several attendees were interested in learning how to become a volunteer or how to get their club involved. To date we have 26 clubs throughout the district sponsoring students for STEM YEA. Over 60 spots have been claimed by clubs throughout the district.
We are looking for volunteers to be with the students during the July 8-11th event. Each group of 15 students will have 2 Rotary volunteers as well as a certified teacher and two assistant interns who work at Albright College. Please use the checklist below to complete all necessary paperwork. You will also find this information and the required training PowerPoint on the Rotary District 7430 Volunteer Information website.
1) Complete the Volunteer Application
2) Complete the PA Clearances
3) Complete the Disclosure Statement if you have lived in PA for 10 consecutive years. If you have not lived in PA for 10 years then you must complete the FBI fingerprint clearance (information on this process is included in the PA Clearances document).
4) Review the PowerPoint Youth Protection Training and fill out the Completion Form
5) Print and complete the attached Essex Clearance forms (you only need to print the first page of the Disclosure and Authorization form). Completed forms and a $20 check made out to Essex should be mailed to:

HIGHWAY CLEANUP:
Sharon Goldner led the event on Saturday, April 9th in some rain.
UKRAINIAN EASTER EGGS”
Halyna Stegura with some specially decorated Easter eggs explained how they are considered a sign of hope. She passed around some examples. Also we saw the one that Ihor Fedoriw presented to the AWRC President that goes to the new President each year.
DISASTER RELIEF:
Our Interact club has donated to the Rotary Foundation Disaster Relief Fund and we are trying to add double that amount.
PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S.:
Gail Micca says Karen Rodgers packed the produce for the Pantry. Our thanks go to Karen for all that she does.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD BANK:
Jean Masiko said that it would not be raining last Saturday. But the distribution was made. The next time is on May 14.
DISTRICT TRAINING ASSEMBLY:
Three AW Rotarians attended this annual event at DeSales University on Saturday April 9th.
That is Bill Messersmith from the Blue Bell Club sitting next to me. He talked about "Chef of the Burbs", which is their fundraiser.
Next to him is a portion of Katie Farrell, an upcoming DG designate. The Kurt Rohrbach from the Kutztown club talked about "Taste of Kutztown".
Gwenn Carr provided the basics of Successful Fundraising focusing on the Project Management aspects.
DISTRICT 7430 ANNUAL CONFERENCE:
Pres. Gail reminds us that this event also is a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary and to have some fun.

AWRC 60TH CHARTER NIGHT PARTY:
We have 52 signed up so far. Please do it now. We need the headcount.
ROTARY DAY OF SERVICE -- APRIL 30:
Jeanne Shipe will lead the AW Rotarians who will work with members of the downtown Allentown RC to operate a day of “Shredding” at the Lower Macungie Township Building on Brookside Road. Anybody can bring up to 4 boxes of items to be shredded.
Volunteers are needed for 9:30 A.M. to 1 P.M.
SNACK PACKS:
Pres. Gail will Chair this program for the next few months.
The date is Wednesday, April 20th for Northwestern Lehigh with Jean Machamer leading..
April 27th is the next packing event at Parkland H.S. Volunteers are needed.

Helen Papathanasiou is Chairing the M.O.W. program for the next few months. Please let Helen know if you will substitute.
AWRC GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Our April 20th in-person meeting will be held at the Parkland Community Library. It will be followed by a tour of the AW Gardens. Bring your family and friends and wear suitable footwear for the tour. Breakfast food will be by the Buttered Crumb !
IN-PERSON MEETINGS AHEAD:
Pres. Gail noted that the April 20 and 27 meetings will be in-person. Also our May 4, 11 and 25 meetings are all in-person at Madeline’s. The May 4th meeting is for scholarship awards.

“KINDER KINDNESS” PROGRAM:
This new program is underway. We have purchased 700 books for Parkland kindergarten children, and also 150 books for Northwestern Lehigh kids. AW Rotarians can help deliver them.
R.Y.L.A CAMP NEIDIG:
Our 2022 Camp Neidig Youth Leadership Program will be held June 17th- June 20th at Camp Manatawny. AW Rotarians are needed to volunteer for this weekend.
