Today was an in-person meeting at Madeline’s in Fogelsville. There were 22 of us there plus 3 more on line.
Our Greeter was Chuck Ehninger, and Sgt-at-Arms, Mitch Huston handled Registration, Happy Dollars, and prize drawings.

OPENING:
President Gail Micca rang the bell and started the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
Ernie Boll gave a very nice invocation.
Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S.
Pres. Gail led us in the recitation of the Four-way Test, and added “Is it Fun?”

AWRC JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
Vice President to be President for the 2024-25 Rotary Year.
Four-way test Speech Contest Chair to run the one-time competition for out RC. We really want to support a student this year.
Foster Parents Breakfast one-time event chair. Without a lead Rotarian we may have to put this off unfortunately.
Dining Out Chair is needed. AW Rotarians have a history of going to local restaurants every month or so for supper and fellowship. We need a leader for this.
It has been suggested that we have a dining out event in place of a morning zoom meeting.
AWRC HOLIDAY PARTY:
Pres. Gail said that we are holding our annual Christmas party at Twin Lakes C.C. The date is Friday, Dec. 2nd.
We need volunteers to work on this event’s planning.
YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT:
Sam Hursh now is with the Blechschmidts. Sam is 6ft 3in and weighs 215 lbs. He is on the NWL football team.
All of us should consider taking Sam to see our country. Please be sure that your Youth Protection status is current.
FRESH FLOWER SALES:
Pres. Gail said that they raised $280 selling flowers.
HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP:
Sharon Goldner will lead this event on Oct 8th.
GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Our garden is giving us great produce to go to food pantries. Gail showed great photos of the recent produce harvested.
CASINO NIGHT:
About 100 have registered. We need a lot more.
There are many amazing prizes.
We have $10,000 in major sponsors, but really need even more.
POTATO PROJECT HARVEST DATE:
PDG Bob Hobaugh last week said that the whole district sends volunteers to help the annual harvesting of potatoes on Sept 24 from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. About 200,000 lbs will be donated to food pantries.
GIVE & GROW FUNDRAISER:
Katrina Sundstrom asked for support of this fundraiser at Eight Oaks Distillery on Sept.24 from 2 PM. There will be a cornhole tournament, and a silent auction too.
9/11 HEROES RUN:
This will be on Sept 25 at Parkland H.S. Race starts at 2 P.M. Come early.
MULTI-CLUB MEMBERSHIP EVENT:
“Conversations Over Cornhole”, will happen on October 19th. It will be a cornhole tournament and get-together in Center Valley at the Stone Fam Cellars and Vineyards from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M.
POLIO ERADICATION RUN / WALK etc:
The Lehigh Valley Passport RC is managing the district Purple Pinkie 5K RACE event which will be on October 15th.:
The other activities planned for this year include non-competitive walks, runs and bike trips “On The Trails” in the Reading area. The Pottstown RC is managing the day. Registration is $40, and includes a lunch.
CLUBRUNNER SOFTWARE TRAINING:
Gwenn Carr said that a survey of the district showed a large interest in learning how ClubRunner software works and what it does. There will be a beginners training webinar on Tuesday, September 13. Future sessions will follow..
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EVENTS:
Tori Morgan will have an event list sent out.
PRIZE DRAWINGS:
The $10 door prize was won by Ralph Witcher.
The 50:50 prize of $15 was won by Bill Palmer.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Laurie Grube announced that the ribbon cutting for the Mid Penn Bank will be on Oct 11th starting at 9:30 A.M. at 3900 Hamilton Blvd.
Gwenn Carr is happy that there were 56 people on the ClubRunner training webinar yesterday.
Ralph Witcher is happy that our good friend Jim Burns is here.
Ralph also put in $10 to honor Pres. Gail.
Sue Weber is happy to be back. They went on a land trip and a cruse in Alaska.
Mitch Huston is happy that on Sept 26 there will be a college marching band festival at J. Birney Crumb stadium for the 26th year. It starts at noon.

PROGRAM:
Program Chair, Ralph Witcher, introduced Morgan Martin, Account Manager, Fox Rehabilitation to discuss “Aging In Place.”
Morgan is an Account Manager for FOX Rehabilitation and she focuses on educating referral sources throughout Lehigh County about outpatient therapy at home. She joined FOX in 2019, and she has previous experience with BAYADA Home Health as well.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines aging in place as: “the ability to live in one's own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level.”
Morgan emphasized that Aging in place matters; She said Receiving outpatient therapy at home works well. And noted that there are various levels of in-home care.
FOX is primarily a clinician-operated, professional private practice of full-time physical, occupational, and speech therapists, built on the foundation of Geriatric House Calls™. Clinicians are given the autonomy to provide clinically excellent care through evidence-based interventions and best practice guidelines.
The types of in-home services provided include:
Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Speech-Language Pathology
Exercise Physiology
Clinical Programming
Morgan explained the many ways older folks can stay in their home as they receive assistance to address a multitude of needs. These can be supplied by medically trained people and by some non-medically trained. The latter includes help with cooking, or help with house-keeping.
Morgan said that the Fox Rehab folks do regular surveys of people that they have helped. They get about 98% of folks willing to recommend their services.
