Today was a Zoom meeting with 27 people on line. After some conversations President Ralph Witcher opened the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
GUESTS ON LINE:
Michelle Steiner, guest of the club -- she found us; and Capt. Nick Millward, Rotary Peace Fellowship winner calling in from Japan.
Pres. Ralph gave a very nice invocation. Then he led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.
CELEBRATION DATES:
Pres. Ralph displayed the list of December members and their celebration dates.
Pres. Ralph again said “The world needs more Rotarians.”
NEW MEMBER RECRUITING:
Gail Micca said that she wears a Rotary shirt at least one day a week, and she talks about Rotary to anybody who will listen. Also she has been inviting member candidates to join in on our meetings.
One contact she had was helping at the garden and recently attended an Emmaus RC meeting where she learned even more. She now plans to join Rotary.
Ralph and Gail agree that there are a lot of Rotarians put here; they just don’t know it yet.
THE FOUR-WAY TEST EXAMPLE:
Pres. Ralph played the musical rendition video of the 4 Way Test.
Marlene Heller asked for volunteers to tell about a recent application of the 4 Way Test in their life.
Sue Weber reflects on the enormous value of the Rotary Youth Exchange programs. She and Bill have made many, many new friends and stay in touch. The programs spread Rotary and good will around the world.
AWRC RECEIVES A NEW GRANT:
The Lehigh Valley Aging in Place Foundation has agreed to give us a $1,000 Grant to allow us to pay for the heated cases for our friends at Meals on Wheels. Congratulations, Gail Micca.
HOLIDAY GIVING ACTIONS:
Message from Gail Micca -- “We have some nice opportunities to give during this season. Let me know how you would like to help:
1 - Barb Kistler will be collecting gift cards to be distributed through food pantries. You can simply purchase some giftcards and mail them to her. If you would like to put the card into a holiday greeting card with good wishes/sentiment and include that this is from the Allentown-West Rotary Club, that would be nice too.

2 - Gail Micca will be organizing a Holiday Family Fun Giftbag to be distributed at the Parkland C.A.R.E.S. Food Pantry Drive Through Delivery Saturday, December 12th.
We will be providing 20 complete Holiday bags which will include:
Blanket, Sugar cookie box mix, frosting and popcorn. All the essentials for a family fun night! Approximate value of each bag is $20-25
Ways to get involved with this fun project:
1 - sign up to create some bags with your family and purchase the items on your own
2 - make a donation towards the purchase of these items
3 - Help Gail stuff the bags and make holiday cards to include
4 - come to the pantry delivery on December 12 and hand them out.

NEW AWRC PROJECT:
Gail Micca reports that in response to the appeal at last week’s meeting, we delivered 12 new Winter coats to Chelsea Karp from the Jewish Family Service organization. With our donation she was thrilled to say they have collected over 100 coats for the “Coats and Cocoa” initiative. It’s so nice that they offer choices to each family. It was a pleasure to meet Chelsea and we hope our paths continue to cross.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD CENTER:
Jean Masiko reminds us that Kingdom Life Food Bank December Giveaway date is this Saturday, the 12th. Volunteers are needed.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Thanks to Amir Famili about 420 lbs. of fresh produce were donated.

STATUS OF MORNING MEETINGS;
The AWRC B.O.D. has suspended all AWRC face-to-face meetings until further notice. Zoom meetings are now scheduled for each Wednesday at 7:30 A.M.
NEXT MORNING MEETING:
Wednesday December 16th starting at 7:30 a.m. We will use Zoom to meet. Our program will be Mary Jo Roma, President at Virtual Specialist, LLC discussing Best Practice Organizational & Social Media Ideas for Small Businesses in Challenging Times.
STATUS OF THURSDAY EVENING MEETING:
No Thursday evening meetings are planned until after the pandemic..
HAPPY DOLLARS and MEMBER NEWS:
When asked, Barbara Kistler said there was no snow yet but it is coming ---- and it did.
Ernie Boll, with his usual happy smile said we could come to Arizona to get warm. It should be 78 degrees today.
David Haight was on from Luther Crest today. They were eating in the dining rooms, but now are back to eating in their rooms.
Pastor Jean Masiko came on after some weeks recuperating from her fall.
Ralph Witcher said that he misses hugging his friends.
Bill Palmer is very happy that his step-granddaughter, Katey, is two months pregnant with their first child.
Ihor Fedoriw is thrilled that more covid19 vaccines are coming.
Jean Masiko gave $15 to thank the more than 15 AW Rotarians who have been volunteering to distribute food at the Kingdom Life Food Center.
NOTE --- Members are encouraged to go on our website and donate $10 or more to various AW projects. These dollars are in place of our not using REAL dollars when we are happy since last March.
Nick Millward is happy that the current fundraiser has netted $7,000 to help pay for the shipping costs of boxes to Mongolia.
Sue Weber thanks Barbara Kistler and Gail Micca for their efforts to collect and distribute holiday gift cards and Gift bags.
Brad Maier and the State Farm people are assembling the gift bags now that Gail has procured the contents.
PROGRAM:
Pres. Ralph Witcher introduced Patricia Annette Witcher – his wife and best friend - President of WitcherWay Transportation, LLC. Pat gave her Classification Talk. Ralph said Pat is amazing and other complimentary things.
Pat said that it has been a joy and a pleasure working with Ralph as she learned about Rotary. They met in college 37 years ago and have been married for 32 years.
She described her roots and the evolution of her family in a nice conversational manner. Pat’s Mother, Louise, was one of 10 children and a Pastor. Her Father, John, was a Pastor. And Pat is one of six children, and she is an Asst. Pastor.
Pat has worked in Sales and Marketing as a career. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 5 years in medical insurance. Then she was with Pitney Bowes for 7 years.
In 2013 she created WitcherWay Transportation, LLC. She acts as a liaison between pharmaceutical companies and CVS which takes her to visit many elderly people. She loves these visits and how many of her contacts take the time to talk with her as a social event for therm.
Pat and Ralph have four children
Brittainy is the oldest, and she was followed 3 years later by Rachel now the Mother of their granddaughter. Son Seth was next and son Solomon followed Seth by 3 years. Today Solomon is almost 20 years old.
The family traveled greatly over seven years between Florida and PA. They did thirteen years of home schooling of all four children. Seth went to Parkland H.S. so he could participate in sports.
The family plays lots of games and has lots of family time. Pat likes to hike, and she maintains a fabulous garden.
