Today was an In-Person meeting at Madeline’s in Fogelsville. There were 19 of us present, and 7 more om-line.
Our Greeter was Chuck Ehninger. Chris Blechschmidt, handled registration, Happy Dollars and prizes.

OPENING:
President Gail Micca rang the bell and started the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
Chuck Ehninger gave a very nice invocation. He began by noting that a smile only works when it is shared.
Ron Coleman led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the U.S. We really were in sync today.
Herb Klotz led us in the recitation of the Four-way Test, and added “Is it Fun?”
CELEBRATIONS:
Pres. Gail noted that Bill Palmer celebrated his 88th birthday yesterday. Applause.

AWRC HOLIDAY PARTY:
Pres. Gail said that we are holding our annual Christmas party at Twin Lakes C.C. The date is Friday, Dec. 2nd. Registration will be ready soon.
We need volunteers to work on this event’s planning.
SNACKPACKING IS BACK:
Herb Klotz and Diana Dunn are chairing these events.
The NWLehigh effort went well.
PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S. PRODUCE DELIVERY:
NEXT PANTRY DAYS are:
November 12 and December 10.
POLIO ERADICATION EVENTS:
Herb Klotz said that the Passport RC had 70 participants in their 5K run/walk.
Last Saturday’s bike and walking events also were successful and fun.
AWRC members donated over $2,500.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
The next distribution will be on November 19th.
GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Pres. Gail said the main garden will have its clean-up day on Sunday, October 30. Two Interact clubs will be helping. The Library garden will follow.

MULTI-CLUB MEMBERSHIP EVENT:
Pres. Gail said that the “Conversations Over Cornhole” was very nice last week. RCs from areas 1 and 2 were represented. It will be held earlier next year to have warmer weather.
KIDS OF CHARACTER THANK YOU:
Gwen Pongracz, now in North Carolina, extended thanks to AWRC Rotarians for their $500 support.
GIFT CARDS NEEDED:
We still need donations of various denominations of gift cards. They will go to the new families in the new Habitat for Humanity homes.

MEETING SCHEDULE:
Since November 30th is the 5th Wednesday of the month, and since our Holiday Party is on December 2nd, there will be no AWRC meeting on Nov. 30th.
FOR 2023 the current plan is to make two changes. First -- ALL meetings will be IN-PERSON, and will have zoom when possible. The second change – the former zoom only meetings will be at various locations and times. Stay tuned for details.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Ernie Boll is happy now, but they are returning to Arizona. He is very happy that we will return to all in-person meetings.
Ron Coleman is happy that he is going to visit his granddaughter.
Jeanne Shipe is happy that the non-surgical procedure has fixed her trigger finger problem.
Pat Mulqueen is happy to become a Rotarian today.
Herb Klotz gave $2 as happy for our two new members, and $1 because he saw his grandkids in S.C. last week.
Gail Micca is happy about our two newest members. And she is happy to be going to North Dakota on Monday.
Bill Palmer is happy that Honorary Member, Dave Dries, has donated $100 to the AWRC Foundation in honor of Bill’s 88th birthday.
PRIZES:
The door prize bottle of wine was won by Quentin Sowers. The $18 of the 50:50 was won by Ernie Boll.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTIONS:
Membership Chair, Tori Morgan, told some background information about Patricia Mulqueen and Quentin Sowers. Tori is Patty’s sponsor and pinned her as she inducted them.
Gail Micca sponsored Quentin and she put the Rotary pin in place.
PROGRAM:
Pres. Gail introduced Gloria M. Pugliese, MBA, CAP®, CFRE from Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network to discuss their New Location in Center Valley.
Gloria Pugliese has over 22 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and management. She has secured gifts for medical research, historic preservation, museum exhibitions, higher education, and human services. Gloria is an adjunct faculty member in the College of Professional Studies at Villanova University. Gloria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in French from Susquehanna University, a Master’s Degree in Education from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration from La Salle University.
Gloria thanked us for the invitation. She noted that Good Shepherd has been in the Lehigh Valley since 1908. The new Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network New Location in Center Valley is under construction across from the Promenade shops. The entrance faces south, away from the shops for better privacy of its patients.

They have 2,200 employees right now. They provide long time care as well as out-patient services.
They recently partnered with the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The Zoo now has an A.D.A. approved entrance.
