Our Greeter today was Gary Englehardt and he did a marvelous job.
President Jeanne Shipe rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting and welcomed all to AWRC. Then Gary Englehardt gave a very nice invocation.
Pres. Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite the 4 Way test, followed with our saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

KINGDOM LIFE DATE CHANGE:
Chair, Jean Masiko, extends her thanks to the volunteers. The date for stocking shelves at Kingdom Life Family Center Food Bank for December is the second Friday.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
P-E AMIR FAMILI SAID that the volume of clients using the Food Pantry has increased markedly, and donations are still needed.
Please remember that the Collection jar is at the registration desk for cash and check contributions.
THE NEXT THURSDAY EVENING MEETING will be A SPECIAL one held TOMORROW, November 29th at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville.
THE FIRST MEMBER to read the special offer in the Nov 21st meeting notes was Gwenn Carr. Pres. Jeanne has paid the $5. There were no other claimants, so it seems that nobody else reads the A-W……..or needs an extra $5.

Gwenn Carr said that they now are pursuing some other new restaurants to join in.
The next TT5 Committee Meeting is FRIDAY, NOV 30th at the Holiday Inn at 7:00 for breakfast. Then there will be one on Friday, January 25th.

VOTING for NEXT YEAR’S OFFICERS:
At our Dec 12th morning meeting and Dec 13th evening meeting we will be voting for AW officers for the 2019-2020 RY.
CLUB ASSEMBLY is planned for our Dec 12th regular meeting.

Mustafa Jaffer also has been given an RI Foundation recognition as a PHF. Herb Klotz noted RI has made an error and Mustafa was not mentioned at last week’s awards. Thank you, Mustafa.
NEW AWRC BANNER:
Gail Micca is working on a new AW Banner for us to use as we travel. We are out of stock on these.
NEXT MEETING -- Dec 5th -- Presentation of AW Rotary’s Service Person of the Year Award by Chuck Ehninger for the club.

Pres. Jeanne introduced our Sgt-at-Arms, Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected Happy Dollars.
The door prize bottle of wine donated by Gary Englehardt was won by Mike Gschwendtner.
The $12 pot of the 50:50 was not won by Amir Famil[’s ticket being drawn followed by a white marble.
Eleven marbles will be around for next week.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Herb Klotz noted that the new Whitehall Area RC is having their Jingle Bell 5K run/walk on this Saturday and would appreciate our support.
Gail Micca is working with a Hope and House program that is doing gift shopping for 33 children. They need volunteer gift wrappers.
Gwenn Carr contributed $5 in happiness that her granddaughter performed in the Nutcracker Suite.
Bill Palmer was very happy to have 14 family members at his home for Thanksgiving Dinner.
Bill Weber paid $2 -- one owed for last week, and one for waiting a week.
Sue Weber is most happy to have Marlene and Gary Heller with us this morning. They are planning to join AWRC.
Mike Gschwendtner is happy that Marti, our Y.E. student from 2 years ago, will be visiting for a month here.
PROGRAM:
Pres. Jeanne introduced Andrea, our Youth Exchange student here from Croatia. Andrea is attending Northwestern Lehigh High School, and is a member of their Interact Club.
Andrea used a series of slides to tell us about Croatia and her life there.
The Republic of Croatia is a Country in the Balkans, and it is at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe on the Adriatic Sea.
Croatia’s capital is Zagreb which forms one of the country's primary subdivisions, along with twenty counties. Zagreb has about 800,000 residents, and all of Croatia is about 4 million citizens. Andrea has pictures of the lakes and the National Park.
Andrea showed photos of her two brothers and of her parents. Her older brother is a Soldier.
Andrea was born on March 30, 2001. She has been studying four languages and soon will add French as well. She also loves to compete in Track & Field events. And she volunteers with the Red Cross. She came in second in a Croatian Language competition.
Andrea said that she loved our Halloween season, and she loves our Thanksgiving celebration. She says that from the instant that she arrived in the U.S. and with her host family, she has felt right at home. It has been a new family.
In her first two months here she has visited South Mt. with other Y.E. students, And she has visited New York City and Philadelphia. She goes again to Philadelphia next week. And she wants to see more of NYC.
When asked what seems different here, Andrea said that Americans seem to drive everywhere, even for a few blocks. And she likes that the food portions in Restaurants are more generous. She noted that Croatian food is more spicy.
Andrea has written a letter for the school magazine. It described how becoming a Y.E. student here has changed her life completely. She said it has been the “Best decision I ever made.” She read the letter to us and it was an outstanding personal analysis. She also said that one goal of hers is to speak English so well that people will think that she is a native American.
