MEETING  NOTES  December 12, 2018

Our Greeter today was  Dr. Bob Gordon  and he did a marvelous job.

President Jeanne Shipe rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting and welcomed all to AWRC. Then Bob Gordon gave a very nice invocation.

Pres. Jeanne began the meeting having the members recite the 4 Way test, followed with our saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

GUESTS:
Dave Bausch, Allentown RC.

Pres Jeanne showed a number of pictures on a loop for our review. They were from last week including Melanie Wustra our Service Person winner. Then we saw great photos from the Dec 7th Holiday Dinner Party at Brookside CC.

Gail Micca reported that Shirley Randall helped to wrap gifts for the children last week.

PARKLAN SNACK PACKING is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 19th. Check with Gail Micca re different timing.

FOUNDATION MATCHING DONATIONS CONTINUE:
Foundation Chair Barbara Kistler said that the dollar and recognition points matching of our gifts to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund-SHARE will continue through December and beyond if the match funds hold out. Note that after January 1, 2019 the cash match is limited to $100.

MINIMUM  BREAKFAST CHARGE:
As we do for the Thursday Evening meetings, we will begin having a $5 minimum fee to attend our regular Wednesday morning meetings starting January 2, 2019. Whether we eat or not there still is a cost to have our meeting at Luther Crest.

LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Please remember that the Collection jar is at the registration desk for cash and check contributions.

TOMORROW  IS  THE  NEXT  THURSDAY  EVENING  MEETING  December 13th at the Holiday Inn at 5:30 P.M. It will include Election of officers and a program about the "Family of Rotary" including a little project.

HAVE YOU PAID YOUR AWRC DUES FOR THIS HALF YEAR?
If not, please be sure to do so ASAP. We pay  RI and District dues for each member.

OUR ANNUAL  AWRC  CHRISTMAS  DINNER WAS A BLAST!

NO MEETING on December 26th. Happy Holidays.

SPECIAL NEW YEAR DINING  EVENT is set for Thursday evening December 27th at 6 PM at Louie’s Restaurant in Allentown.

ALL NEW THURSDAY EVENING MIXER:
January 10th at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville starting at 5:30 P.M. will be a MIXER meeting for potential AWRC members discussing all things Rotary. Start now to schedule your guests.

TT5 PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING is on Friday January 18th at the Holiday Inn at 7 a.m.

JANUARY  DINING  OUT:
January 24, 2019 – Dining Out at Curious Goods 6PM

NEXT  MEETING  --  Dec 19th   --   Our Greeter will be Donna Beach. The program will be Shawn Fejes giving his Classification Talk—A Trainer.

Pres. Jeanne introduced our Sgt-at-Arms, Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected Happy Dollars.

The door prize bottle of wine  donated by Bob Gordon  was won by John Scott.

The $25 pot of the 50:50 was not won by Mitch Huston‘s ticket being drawn  followed by a white marble. Nine marbles will be around for next week.

HAPPY DOLLARS:
To make us happy Mitch told two jokes that got good laughs. Then he tried to charge a dollar for each 20 seconds of a happy dollar speech. That failed.

Bill Palmer is happy that his #2 son, Richard was written up in a trade magazine about Micro Tunneling. Rich id the Division General Manager and has introduced a new curve tunneling technique to the U.S.

Ron Coleman paid a guilty dollar because he forgot his badge. And he was in his holiday Santa outfit today.

Chris Blechschmidt told a funny story from this morning when our Y.E. student, Andrea, screamed in surprise when Chris had a noisy tooth brush running when they met.

Joe Goll is happy to announce that their Key West Apt. is available for rent at $1,000 a week.

Gail Micca is happy to be back from visiting her family in North Dakota where she had a great time.

Bob Gordon just was happy to pay a dollar.

Ralph Witcher thanks us all for the love and support for his son, Seth, at the Holiday Dinner Party last Friday.

Al Lewis is happy that he was a part of the marvelous Holiday Party. Al also is happy that his daughter is returning to her teaching career.

Ernie Boll is happy to be here today, and he wishes all a very Merry Christmas.

David Haight is happy about the great Holiday Party. And he is happy to be heading to Nashville for a visit.
And since it is David’s birthday, we sang Happy Birthday to him.

 PROGRAM:
Pres. Jeanne began by having Jerry Frank distribute ballots for our Officers and board members for the 2019-20 Rotary Year. Jeanne then held a discussion of possible members to fill some of the vacancies with good results.

The Ballot now includes:
         President – Amir Famili
         President-Elect – Ralph Witcher
         Vice President – Mitch Huston
Immediate Past President – Jeanne Shipe
         Secretary--John Scott
         Treasurer - Chris Blechschmidt
Sergeant at Arms—Ron Coleman (possibly share with Mitch Huston)
         PR Chair - Mitch Huston
Service Committee Chair – Gail Micca
RI Foundation/International/Grants Chair – Barbara Kistler

Chairman Allentown-West Rotary Foundation:  Geoff Legg
Program Chair- Jeanne Shipe is looking for members who will invite / coordinate great speakers (not necessarily to create calendar from scratch.)

John Scott made a motion that the nominations be closed, and Bill Palmer seconded it. It was approved.

Our members marked their ballots and Jerry Frank, Esq. collected them, analyzed them, and reported that 19 members approved; there were no negatives nor abstentions.

A similar ballot will be voted on at our Thursday Dec 13th evening meeting, hopefully without duplication.

When asked, Treasurer Chris Blechschmidt confirmed that the AWRC is on a firm financial footing. His 6 month report will be issued in January.

Pres. Jeanne gain read the names of previous AWRC Presidents and thanked them for their service.

CLOSING:
We closed our meeting by reciting the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
