Our Greeter today was Sue Weber and she did a marvelous job..
President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting. Sue Weber gave a very nice invocation.
Pres. Mike began the meeting having the members recite the Five-way Test with the fifth question, “Is it Fun?” We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.
GUESTS: Sally Frank; Hal Warner, Allentown Rescue Mission; Ula Marts, guest of Sue Weber; DGE Cindy Hornaman, Emmaus RC: Area 1 AG Gary Rohrbach, Emmaus RC; and A contingent of Friendship Exchange Rotarians from Sweden.
Pres. Mike showed pictures starting with last week’s meeting, then of Ala last week, and finally of the Lowhill Food Pantry volunteers from last Saturday.
LOWHILL FOOD PANTRY:
Please remember that the Collection jar is at the registration desk for cash and check contributions.
VOLUNTEERS STILL ARE NEEDED each Saturday to distribute produce. WE urgently need some of you to sign up to keep this effort going. The Produce will be there.
TEMPTING TASTES 4 STUFF:
Please buy and sell tickets and invite guests. It will be a fabulous afternoon.
Gwenn Carr said that we still need some “Spotters” for the live auction.
TRI-CEES CONCERT:
Barbara Kistler announced that on May 14th at 7:00 P.M. there will be another concert sponsored by AWRC at Luther Crest.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE UPDATE:
Sue Weber reported that the April 27 to 29 annual District Conference in Wyomissing was wonderful. Herb Klotz said that the speakers were great, and the finals of the Speech Contest were very good.
ANNUAL DISTRICT TRAINING ASSEMBLY:
DGE Cindy Hornaman reminds us of the May 12th District Training Assembly at DeSales University. All are welcome.
TT4 REGISTRATION TRAINING:
Dorothy Bloom reminds the Registration Volunteers to come to the Bloom home TONIGHT at 5:30 to eat -- followed by TT4 Training.

THURSDAY EVENING MEETINGS:
May 10th at 5:30 P.M. at the Holiday Inn in Breinigsville is the next meeting.
AND on May 24th we will meet at the Weatherland Winery at 7670 Carpet Rd, New Tripoli. Guy and Cindy Rosevelt are in charge.
NEXT WEEK:
Our Greeter next week will be Tim Smith and the program is Jessica Elliot, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity.
Pres. Mike introduced S-A-A Mitch Huston who conducted the drawings and collected some “Guilty” dollars.
The door prize bottle of wine donated by Sue Weber was won by Bill Palmer.
The $37 pot of the 50:50 was NOT won by Ralph Witcher’s ticket. Eight marbles remain.
Mitch drew tickets and Geoff Legg and Halyna Stegura won tickets to TT4 donated by Ihor Fedoriw.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Ralph Witcher’s group will be singing this Friday at Moravian Hall. And on Saturday there will be Barber Shop Quartets.
Dorothy Bloom spotted Chris and Herb’s photo in the insert of her PPL bill. She called for them to be fined again. Herb paid again.
Jeff Kistler is happy to have our Swedish guests here today.
Cindy Hornaman is happy to again be with one of the best RCs in the district. She thanks our members who have sent well wishes, cards and prayers to husband, Chris.
Bill Weber said that tomorrow the guests will be going to the second best RC in our district (Emmaus). Bill said the visits have been great and he is sorry that they will end in a few days.
Jean Machamer is pleased that two of our Northwestern H.S. Interact club students attended the District Conference last weekend.
Dale Heffner reports that he and Becky celebrated 36 years of marriage yesterday.
Dale also said he is happy to have guest Hal Warner here today.
One of our Swedish guests expressed thanks to AW Rotarians for hosting them this week.
Dorothy Bloom happily reports that we have the best visitors.
Hal Warner said he is happy to be here today.
PROGRAM:
Sue Weber asked each of our Friendship Exchange visitors to introduce themselves. They had a series of pictures for each of the six couples. The individuals described their home towns, their Rotary clubs and told us about their professions and families.
There were Teachers, Lawyers, Diplomats and Farmers. Not surprising, their preferred pastimes frequently involved snow.
Then Camilla called members of each RC to present a club banner to Pres. Mike G. Mike reciprocated with an AW banner. Then Mike was presented with a supply of matches which is a regular product in Sweden.
Barbara Kistler then presented each visitor with a packet of Hershey Kisses, which were well received.
CLOSING:
We closed our meeting by reciting the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
