Our Greeter today was Chuck Ehninger, and he did a marvelous job.
President Mike Gschwendtner rang the bell at 7:30 A.M. to open the meeting and also he gave a very nice invocation.
Pres. Mike began the meeting having the members recite the Five-way Test with the fifth question, “Is it Fun?” We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.

Pres. Mike showed pictures of Friday evening’s Kingdom Life shelf stocking, and the Northwestern Snack Packing. He then added last week’s meeting photos.

MEMBERSHIP:
Herb Klotz is forming a committee in February to focus on recruiting to add at least 8 more qualified members. Volunteers to be on this committee should contact Herb. The first meetings will be Feb 7th A.M. and Feb 8th P.M.
DINING OUT:
Ronnee Klotz said that the next Dining Out will be a “German Night” on February 22nd at the Stoney Run Inn. A menu is available. Please sign up.
TEMPTING TASTES 4:
The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Friday January 26th at 7:30 A.M. somewhere TBD.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE:
Three or four volunteers are needed to help on the 2018 scholarship selection committee chaired by Barbara Kistler. An initial meeting will soon be held to approve a form and a method of choosing the most appropriate students. And then a second a meeting will be held to do the actual selection. All other communication will be by email. Please indicate your willingness to serve by emailing Barbara at barbara.kistler@rcn.com.

Chris Blechschmidt received a thank you letter from ShelterBox USA for our recent donation. The $1,000 box we donated was used in Syria.

TOMORROW Jan 11th at the Holiday Inn starting at 5:30 P.M. Dale Heffner’s daughter will discuss a possible new project. Following this week's meeting there will be a new member orientation for those who have recently joined or are about to be inducted. Anyone is welcome to participate in the discussion of being "engaged and connected to Rotary".

HAPPY DOLLARS:
Jeanne Shipe is triply happy. Gail Micca has agreed to be next week’s program. Jeanne’s birthday is this week. And she won the 50:50 this morning.

Dale Heffner is happy that daughter Jess will be the program at tomorrow evening’s meeting. He gave a promo talk.
Halyna Stegura is most thankful for the “Heat Wave” of 43 degrees yesterday.
Dorothy Bloom notes that she too had a birthday – last week – and that she loves bunnies. The Rotary International float in the Rose Parade this year on Jan 1st featured a rabbit. And the float won a prize.
Wendy Weaver is delighted that she sold her house and now can buy one in Florida.
Ralph Witcher wishes safe travels for the group going to Sierra Leone.
Ernie Boll noted the recent death of a 100 year old widow of a long time Rotarian.
At the members’ request Ralph Witcher led us in singing Happy Birthday to Jeanne, Dottie and Joel. It was good.
PROGRAM:
Today we had our own Dr. Jennifer Stinson, Licensed Audiologist giving her Classification Talk. She is relatively new to the Lehigh Valley, and she thanked Dan Crane for bringing her into Rotary.
Jennifer grew up in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area and attended Bloomsburg State College where she earned her undergraduate and Masters degrees. Then she went to the Sacramento, CA area for two years. While there she had an awesome trip to Australia and to Europe. And after a visit to Napa, she now is a lover of red wines.
Jennifer worked for an Audiologist in California and she decided that her approach will be: “The Patient is First.” She believes that the licensing of the sale of hearing aids by untrained individuals hurts patients.
Then Jennifer came back to PA. in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area. She got a part time job in the Lehigh Valley. Here she began going into Nursing Homes to care for patients with hearing problems. She believes that most Nursing home patients in PA are under-served.
During this time Jennifer built an electronic records system for patient records. And she wanted to open her own Audiology business. Her goal is to treat and service all aspects, not just to sell hearing aids. She explained that folks who have had poor hearing for some time then have to be retrained how to listen with hearing aids. The background sounds can be disturbing.
Jennifer currently is the Director of Audiology for 360 Care covering ten states. 360care focuses on serving the Audiology needs of Residents in long-term care settings. Their goal is to enhance the quality of life for the Residents and maximize functional hearing so that the Resident may maintain as much independence as possible.
Jennifer is traveling a great deal. She is teaching about 18 Audiologists how to use the records system and how to work with the many types of insurances.
Jennifer lives in Allentown and has two dogs. She works from home two days a week usually. She has a large extended family of cousins and a new 4 month old niece.
CLOSING:
