AW Rotary Club Board Meeting Minutes
For 12/20/2016

President Dan Crane called the meeting to order at 7:15 AM.  Other members present were Dale Hostetter, Bill Weber, Mike Gschwendtner, Ginny Sandoval, Herb Klotz, Len Salines, Joe Goll, Don Davis, Gloria Zimmerman and Jeanne Shipe.

  1.  The minutes from 11/15/16 were approved as submitted with a motion from Len Salines and a second from Joe Goll.
  2. Secretary Joe Goll reports that everything is up to date and that Tina Buss will be inducted sometime in January.  Dan will follow up with Chad to determine his true intent with club participation.
  3. Treasurer Dale Hostetter reports that funds from the Purple Pinkie have been sent to Rotary International.  Checks for waitress, chef, and New Tripoli Fire Co. will be provided for 12/21/16.  Treasurer’s report was accepted with a motion from Herb Klotz and a second from Ginny Sandoval.
  4. Sergeant at Arms Don Davis reports all’s well and on track.
  5. Service Committee Chair Gloria Zimmerman reports all’s well with Parkland Snack Packing but less so at Northwestern because of fewer Snack Pack recipients and fewer Interact Club member participants.  Gloria also brought up the issue of our club Facebook page and questioned who would be the lead on that.  It seems as though Chad had stopped updating the page.  Ginny agreed to talk to Brian Peterka about that.
  6. RI Foundation, Grants, and International Chair David Caccese was absent, but his report was distributed to those in attendance.  The physical therapists from the Ukraine will likely be in the U. S. from 2/12/2017 for two or three weeks for training.  Details to follow re:  schedules, costs, etc.  Jeanne Shipe will tentatively schedule a club presentation by them 2/22/17.  Herb Klotz reports that Mr. Sengeh, Principal of the Centennial School, will be in the U. S. sometime next April.  Details to follow.
  7. Public Relations Chair Mitch Huston was absent but reported that all’s well and that he will continue to promote our activities including the Snack Packs and TT3.
  8. Fundraising Chair Len Salines reports that all’s well with TT3 and that we’re ahead of last year with restaurants.  Ginny Sandoval reports that Carmel Kitchen is now on board.
  9. Membership Chair Ginny Sandoval reports that we will have a Family Fellowship Breakfast with the Interact Club members and their parents 12/28/16.  Ginny will get an approximate count of participants soon.  The Board Game afternoon is scheduled for 1/29/17 at Trexlertown Fire Co.  Ginny will talk to Brian Peterka and Mitch about promotion.  The Women’s International Conference will be held 3/8/1l7 at Cedar Crest College.  Details to follow.  Resources will likely be donated with no cost to our club.
  10. Youth Services Chair Bill Weber reports that there are no applications for outbound exchange students. Ginny explained that this is likely because of the significant demand on students headed for college. Bill also reports that if the club accepts an inbound student next year, there are host families available in Northwestern School District.  He also reports that former exchange student, Ellie and current exchange student, Marti will be at our meeting tomorrow 12/21/16.
  11. Vocational Chair Chuck Ehninger was absent but reported that all’s well and on track for the Rotary Service Award presentation to Don Christ tomorrow 12/21/16.
  12. Evening Meeting Lead Herb Klotz reports that the meeting format, schedule, and location are evolving.  Details to follow.
  13. District Membership Chair Herb Klotz reports that the soon to be chartered Whitehall Club needs a sponsoring club and asked the board if it thought AW Rotary would be willing to meet the criteria.  The board approved this proposal on a motion from Ginny Sandoval and a second by Jeanne Shipe.  However, if we are to proceed, the entire club must agree.  The club at large will be asked for a vote early in January 2017.
  14. Herb Klotz presented a new club constitution and set of bylaws based on changes made in the most recent Rotary International legislation.  The constitution is standard from RI and needs no revision.  Our bylaws are being changed, but editing continues, and this will be revisited at our next board meeting.

    We adjourned at 8:35 AM.
    Next board meeting – Tuesday, 1/17/17 – 7:15 AM

    Respectfully submitted, Donna Beach
