FLAGS FOR UNITY
Our major fundraiser for the 2024-25 Rotary year will be Flags for Unity, led by PE Earnie Bliss. A four-day extravaganza, it will take place beginning Thursday, May 22 and continue through Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.
This program, which we are anticipating will result in a net profit of $18,000, will depend heavily on the investment of our club's volunteers. While a handful of members have already stepped forward and have begun in the planning phase, many more will be needed to bring this project to fruition.

Flags for Unity will be a family-friendly patriotic salute to our country. Hundreds of flags will be planted in the ground in grid formation (picture Arlington National Cemetery), and the community and business sponsors will be invited to purchase flags at a cost of around $65 each, to be picked up at the end of festivities.
Activities during the commemoration period can include such things as professional fly-overs, sky divers, musicians, and more. Volunteers are needed for many jobs, some long-term and some closer to the holiday. For example, volunteers will be needed to create the plan for laying out the flags, to actually plant the flags, to keep track of the purchasers, create a spreadsheet for the sponsors, help with the distribution of flags on the last day, seek out sponsors, and much, much more.
