On a beautiful sunny Summer day of August 4th, over forty AW Rotarians, family and guests gathered starting at 4 P.M. at Sue and Bill Weber’s Tranquility Farm in Vera Cruz. Our RC annual picnic has been hosted here by the Webers for at least 20 years.
The Webers do an enormous amount of “prep” work with the grounds and the pond. Then some early arrivals team up and assemble Mike Stegura’s large tent that is used to cover the food.
Many tables and chairs were put around the grounds, and there were some beautiful flowers decorating the scene.
Many people brought food items And there was plenty of sodas, beer and wines on hand. We stared nibbling and sipping as folks arrived, and continued as we enjoyed everyone and everything.
Seth Witcher, Ralph’s son, provided great guitar and voice entertainment for all to enjoy. He was back by popular demand after our Christmas party last December.
Ralph Witcher’s son, Solomon, was there too.
As is our tradition, at about 6 P.M. we all gathered in a huge circle and held hands. Rev. Jeff Kistler gave a very nice prayer for us all.
The official dinner also was provided by many people bringing food items such as salads, deviled eggs, and a Beef and a Pulled Turkey BBQ. All members helped put the food together, and then we ate most of it.
Our District Governor, Herb Klotz, was with us today. Also former member Ginny Sandoval and husband David were with us. And Keith and Rhonda Koepke were able to join us. Other attendees are pictured below.
Our longtime member, Bob Nagle was there for the whole afternoon.
